The aim of the present study was to re-examine taxonomic position and structure taxon K (also known as group K) within Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc). For this purpose, a representative set strains examined by traditional polyphasic approach, multilocus sequence typing (MLST) analysis available whole-genome sequences. Analysis recA gene revealed three different lineages, designated recA-I, recA-II recA-III. DNA-DNA hybridization experiments demonstrated that recA-I isolates each...

The taxonomic position of five recA gene clusters Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc) isolates was determined using a polyphasic approach. levels 16S rRNA and sequence similarity, multilocus typing (MLST) data the intermediate DNA–DNA binding values demonstrated that these represented novel species within Bcc. Biochemical identification is difficult, as case for most Bcc species. However, can be accomplished through analysis, MLST BOX-PCR profiling by RFLP analysis. For diagnostic...

To evaluate the feasibility of different methods for susceptibility testing human Arcobacter isolates, to assess antibiotics commonly used treat diarrhoeal illness and obtain MIC distribution data. One-hundred-and-six unique strains were collected during an epidemiological study on pathogens in gastroenteritis. Strains identified by multiplex PCR PCR–RFLP, characterized PFGE. Susceptibility ampicillin, erythromycin, tetracycline, doxycycline, gentamicin ciprofloxacin was determined using...

From early 2020, a high demand for SARS-CoV-2 tests was driven by several testing indications, including asymptomatic cases, resulting in the massive roll-out of PCR assays to combat pandemic. Considering dynamic viral shedding during course infection, report cycle threshold (Ct) values rapidly emerged. As Ct can be affected number factors, we considered that harmonization semi-quantitative results across laboratories would avoid potential divergent interpretations, particularly absence...

Shot-gun sequencing of DNA isolated from the environment and assembly metagenomes resulting data has considerably advanced study microbial diversity. However, subsequent matching these hypothetical to cultivable microorganisms is a limitation such cultivation-independent methods population analysis. A polyphasic taxonomic study of 14 isolates recovered from various human and veterinary clinical samples was performed. Phenotypically these shared several characteristics with members the Alcaligenaceae related genera. Random amplified polymorphic DNA fingerprinting whole-cell protein analysis suggested presence multiple genomic groups, which confirmed by DNA–DNA hybridization experiments. 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that were to genera Pelistega , Taylorella Oligella Pigmentiphaga...

Type and reference strains of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia africana were compared with each other the type species, using SDS-PAGE whole-cell proteins, DNA-DNA hybridization extensive biochemical characterization. S. LMG 958T 22072T had very similar whole-cell-protein patterns also biochemically similar. A binding level 70% between both confirmed that represent same taxon. It is concluded a later synonym maltophilia.

Two additional strains were recovered compost heap Belgium (LMG 18808) and the rhizosphere of maize Netherlands 24204). The three had virtually identical 16S rRNA gene sequences whole-cell protein profiles, they identified as members genus Burkholderia, with Burkholderia phenazinium their closest relative. Stenotrophomonas maltophilia isolates have been recovered from various clinical samples, including the respiratory tract of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients, but this organism is also widespread in nature. Previously it has shown that there a considerable genomic diversity within S. maltophilia.
