Objective To study peristalsis and drainage of the stented ureter under normal physiological conditions. Patients methods Fifteen non‐obstructed patients with ureteric stents 15 control subjects (i.e. 45 unstented ureters ureters) had jets flow analysed using colour Doppler ultrasound (CDU). Cross‐sectional longitudinal studies were performed. Results Unstented forceful at a frequency 0.5–4 jets/min per ureter. Asymmetry within was common (1–3 jets/min). Some patent no recordable on CDU...
Benign postsurgical anastomotic colon strictures can be challenging to manage because of their refractory nature and the potential need for reoperation. Limited data are available on endoscopic management such lesions with use fully covered self-expanding metal stents or lumen-apposing (LAMSs).1Clinic B. Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (CEPA) of the lacrimal gland is a rare malignant tumor that arises from pre-existing adenoma. Lacrimal CEPA with mucoepidermoid histological subtype exceedingly rare. Diagnosis can be aided by radiographic findings, though gold standard histopathological analysis following excisional biopsy. Management options include complete surgical excision or without adjuvant radiation therapy based on grade and invasiveness. We present 76-year-old woman 6 months...
A 50-year-old man was referred for evaluation of alcohol-related chronic relapsing pancreatitis. Initial endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) revealed a dilated pancreatic duct with stone proximal to distal stricture. The stricture 6 mm using balloon, and an 8.5-Fr plastic stent placed ensure drainage. ERCP 2 months later showed no improvement in the 10-Fr placed.
Introduction: CMV infection of the gastrointestinal tract is reported most frequently in immunocompromised, and commonly affects colon esophagus. small bowel accounts for only 4% all infections. We report a case enteritis complicated by diagnostic challenges despite comprehensive work-up. A 35-year-old male with past medical history human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) on highly active antiretroviral therapy Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia presented diarrhea 30-pound weight loss over 6 weeks....
A 71-year-old man presented with 6 months of intermittent, sharp, right-sided abdominal pain, fevers, jaundice, and a 15-pound weight loss. He had undergone cholecystectomy 12 years earlier for symptomatic cholelithiasis. The initial presentation was thought to be due biliary pancreatitis; ERCP at the referring institution revealed normal bile duct no filling defects. Sphincterotomy performed, it assumed that he passed stone. His symptoms recurred, 2 later underwent repeated ERCP. It...
Reconstruction options after orbital exenteration can be challenging, time-consuming, and require intensive postoperative care. Engineered dermal acellular matrices offer a quick easy option for wound healing that has proven to successful in various settings. Specifically, the porcine urinary bladder matrix demonstrated success periocular healing. This report describes pediatric patient who underwent repair with recurrent alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. The did not any additional reconstructive...
