The influence of the solvent type on rheological properties Carbopol ® NF 980 dispersions in water and water/glycerol solutions is investigated. material formulation, preparation procedure, common experimental challenges artifact sources are all addressed. Transient steady-state experiments were performed. For both types, a clearly thixotropic behavior occurs slightly above yield stress, where avalanche effect observed. larger stresses, thixotropy always negligible. Among other findings, it...
We present an experimental investigation of bubbles rising in elasto-viscoplastic media. The effects medium rheology and bubble size on the velocity shape are investigated. In addition, a discussion regarding influence stress history path is presented. Experimental tests performed using yield materials which also elastic behavior. Despite difficulty determining relative importance different forces that this flow, results obtained illustrate effect stress, inertia, elasticity, buoyancy...
We experimentally studied the viscous fingering instability considering a Newtonian oil displacing viscoelastic shear-thinning liquids and vice versa. The non-Newtonian are aqueous solutions of polyacrylamide xanthan gum, i.e., flexible rigid polymers, respectively. A rectangular Hele-Shaw cell, connected by two plenum chambers, was developed to evaluate displacement fixed volume. experiment consists analyzing interface time evolution through digital camera as function geometric, dynamic,...
ABSTRACT Xanthan gum (XG) is a biopolymer widely used in different industries, such as food, cosmetics, oil, among others, which requires modifications its properties. The present study aims to the thermal and rheological properties of XG nanofluids based on oxidized hexagonal boron nitride (hBN‐oxi) under high temperature pressure conditions. hBN‐oxi was obtained through liquid exfoliation then dispersed at concentrations. conductivity investigated temperatures, addition 6.0 wt% polymeric...
The choice of liquid or gas fuel to be used in an industrial furnace can extreme importance, having a direct effect on its performance, the level pollutants emissions, and equipment working life. These factors are highly dependent combustion process such as flame shape temperature heat flux distributions within furnace. In present work, numerical simulations were carried out, using finite volume method, with purpose analyzing comparing inside aluminum when operating two types fuel: spray oil...
The demand for minimally invasive body contouring procedures, particularly gluteal augmentation, has grown significantly. This study evaluates the morphologic and rheological properties of four commercially available hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers used explores their clinical implications. Critical parameters such as storage modulus (G'), loss (G″), complex (G*), damping factor (tan δ) were measured using oscillatory tests to assess each filler's elasticity, viscosity, viscoelastic profile....
In this work, we study the rheology of hydrate slurries in a mixture water and THF (tetrahydrofuran, C4H8O). This hydrocarbon is miscible water, forms hydrates at ambient pressure temperatures above 0 °C. Rheological tests, constant shear rate, flow curve, creep, oscillatory, are carried out for different concentrations. Transient steady-state results obtained, suggesting that strongly affected by agglomeration breakage crystals seem to happen simultaneously, when slurry sheared during formation.
Summary In the placement process of cement slurry, treatment fluids such as spacer are pumped ahead cementitious slurry to minimize contamination by drilling fluid and ensure superior bonding casing formation. The discussed in this work can harden with time act a settable spacer. This characteristic be an advantage for well integrity if some pockets left annulus. Rheological compatibility different mixtures oil-based (OBDF) has been studied using rheometer, resulting R-factor, which...
This work investigates the effects of amino-functionalized graphene oxide (AFGO) suspensions on rheological behavior Carbopol® hydrogels at pHs 5, 7, and 9. The AFGO concentration media pH were evaluated related to suspension's microstructure rheology. Graphene (GO) nanosheets synthesized using modified Hummers method functionalized with triethylenetetramine via microwave-assisted reaction produce AFGO. characterized by different techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM),...
This work studies the influence of concentration and oxidation degree on rheological behavior graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets dispersed polyethylene glycol (PEG). The characterization was fulfilled in shear flow through rotational rheometry measurements, steady, transient oscillatory regimes. Graphene prepared by chemical exfoliation graphite using modified Hummers method. morphological structural characteristics originating from synthesis were analyzed X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy,...
In the oil industry, gas hydrates formed during and production are one of main issues in flow assurance. extreme conditions high pressure low temperature found ultradeep wells, crystals can form, agglomerate, accumulate flowlines. Moreover, be used for energy storage chemical separation, such as seawater desalination. As such, understanding onset hydrate formation, its growth, behavior under shear great interest. This work presents a rheological analysis cyclopentane water-in-oil emulsions....
