Dengue virus is a worldwide-distributed mosquito-borne flavivirus with positive strand RNA genome. Its transcribed polyprotein cleaved by host- and virus-encoded peptidases into 10 proteins, some of which are unknown function. Although dengue virus-infected cells seem to be resistant the antiviral action IFN, viral products that mediate this resistance unknown. Therefore, we have analyzed ability proteins antagonize IFN response. We found expression in human A549 nonstructural NS2A, NS4A, or...

Background: There is a lack of specific antiviral therapy against dengue virus (DENV) in current use. Therefore, great proportion cases progress to severe clinical forms due complex interplay between and host immune response. It has been hypothesized that heterotypic non-neutralizing antibodies enhance DENV infection phagocytic cells, this induces an inflammatory response involved the pathogenesis dengue. Purpose: To identify immunomodulatory effects polyphenols on infection. Methods: Human...

Chagas disease, caused by the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, is a major public health problem in most of Latin America. A key priority development new treatments, due to poor efficacy current ones. We report here comparative evaluation therapeutic DNA vaccines encoding various T. cruzi antigens. ICR mice infected with 500 parasites intraperitoneally were treated at 5 and 12 days postinfection 20 µg plasmid antigens TSA-1, TS, ASP-2-like, Tc52 or Tc24. Treatment TS and/or ASP-2-like...

Dengue virus encephalopathy was experimentally induced in newborn mice by i.p. inoculation of dengue 2 virus. At 6 and 9 days post-infection, motor incoordination posterior limb paralysis were observed with focal necrosis, apoptotic cells, perivascular inflammatory cuffing astrocytosis, mainly the cortex hippocampus. Expression genome mRNA encoding for TNF-alpha, IL-1alpha, IL-2, IL-6, IL-1beta, IL-12 p40, IFNalpha, IFNbeta; addition host survival response genes MAC-1, EB22, GFAP, ICAM-1...

The disease burden of arthropod-borne infections is particularly high in low- and middle-income countries, where the availability resources for surveillance testing limited. lack local infrastructure demands that biological samples be sent to central laboratories by refrigerated transport, which increases costs risk sample degradation. Dried blood spot are an alternative ensuring integrity during transportation storage. They can used detection nucleic acids proteins, such as antigens or...

It is acknowledged that antiviral immune response contributes to dengue immunopathogenesis. To identify immunological markers distinguish fever (DF) and hemorrhagic (DHF), 113 patients with confirmed infection were analyzed at 6 or 7 days after onset. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) isolated, lymphocyte subsets activation biomarkers identified by flow cytometry, differentiation of T helper (Th) lymphocytes was achieved the relative expression analysis T-bet (Th1), GATA-3 (Th2),...

The antigenic potential of seven immunogenic peptides the dengue virus was evaluated in sera patients with confirmed by IgM/IgG serology. Antibodies IgM and IgG against were analyzed ELISA 31 sero-positive 20 sero-negative patients. P5 peptide showed significant immunoreactivity mostly without warning signs comparison signs, correlating mild disease. This finding suggests that low antibody response epitope could be a risk factor for higher susceptibility to infection antigen vaccine development.

Introduction: Previous studies that identified the prognostic factors for severity of new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in different populations have generated controversial conclusions.
