Abstract We compiled damages to hydropower projects (HPPs) in the wake of Nepal's 2015 Gorkha earthquake and its main aftershock. Based on 41 records HPP losses, we identify mechanisms determining degree loss. show that, among these mechanisms, earthquake‐triggered landslides had largest share. Landslides clustered where peak ground acceleration river steepness Mχ, a metric frequently used tectonic geomorphology, attain high values. A Bayesian logistic regression reveals that both metrics...
In environmental sciences, observational data remains indispensable for monitoring and understanding of natural processes, validating earth system models remote sensing products, training driven methods. However, unified standards interfaces ensuring that such is consistently available, usable, compliant with FAIR Open Science principles are still lacking. The so-called DataHub initiative the Helmholtz Research Field Earth & Environment, involving seven large research Centers across...
High data-rate underwater communications can be facilitated by the use of high carrier frequencies. Development hydroacoustic modems that operate on frequencies requires knowledge channel conditions may encountered. Further, development mature and reliable systems is expedited synthetic models. Such models offer advantages over existing validation method based recordings. This because generate a much larger number states than could realistically recorded. In addition, used to test previously...
