Femtosecond laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) have several applications in structuring and functionalization. Three major challenges exist the fabrication of regular uniform LIPSS: enhancing energy deposition, reducing residual heat, avoiding deposited debris. Herein, we fabricate an extremely low-spatial-frequency LIPSS (LSFL) on a silicon by temporally shaped femtosecond laser. The ultrafast dynamics of periodic ripples are studied during their formation on the surface a gold film with prefabricated nanogroove. These transient induced by single 800-nm, 50-fs laser pulse and observed collinear pump-probe imaging method. When polarization is parallel to nanogroove, begin appearing after an elapsed time 25--80 ps, become clear regular at 400--600 ps. ripple period increases from 685 770 nm as fluence $F$ 0.73...
This paper reports the ultrafast imaging on formation of periodic surface ripples induced by a single 800 nm, 50 fs laser pulse. The evolution process is observed Si with prefabricated nanogroove. emerge very quickly, only 3 ps after pulse fluence 0.18 J/cm2 irradiating surface, and last for several hundreds picoseconds. dynamics laser-matter interaction, such as free carrier excitation, lattice heating, plasmon polariton (SPP) etc, are studied theoretically. theoretical experimental results...
We report the generation of single negatively charged silicon vacancy (SiV−) color centers by focusing a femtosecond (fs) laser on top high-purity diamond coated with layer Si nanoball. Under interaction high-intensity fs laser, atoms were ionized and implanted into diamond, accompanied creation vacancies. After annealing at 850°C in vacuum for 1 h, photoluminescence spectra bright spots around created crater presented typical strong zero-phonon line 737 nm SiV− centers. Bright could be...
Abstract Bound states in the continuum (BIC) have attracted great attention nanophotonics past few years. The metasurface with inverted symmetry breaking exhibits high Q resonance through quasi-BIC (Q-BIC), which realizes light modulation, sensing and nonlinear generation. In this work, a symmetry-broken Si–VO 2 composite is studied modulate near-infrared absorption Q-BIC mode. First, L-shaped Si broken C 4v designed, transition from BIC to shows strong circular dichroism. Later,...

In this paper, the influences of surface plasmons and thermal effects on formation subwavelength periodic ripples Au films irradiated by 800 nm femtosecond laser pulses were studied collinear pump-probe imaging. The spatial temporal resolutions experiment 300 1 ps, respectively. No observed film during ablation first pump pulse, but second pulse appearance transient was evident from a delay time hundreds picoseconds to several nanoseconds.
