Abstract Although common in hematologic and mesenchymal malignancies, recurrent gene fusions have not been well characterized epithelial carcinomas. Recently, using a novel bioinformatic approach, we identified between TMPRSS2 the ETS family members ERG or ETV1 majority of prostate cancers. Here, interrogated expression all cancer profiling studies marked overexpression ETV4 2 98 cases. In one such case, confirmed quantitative PCR, by rapid amplification cDNA ends, fluorescence situ...

Adrenomedullin (AM) and intermedin (IMD; adrenomedulln-2) are vasodilator peptides related to calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). The actions of these mediated by the receptor-like receptor (CLR) in association with one three activity-modifying proteins. CGRP is selective for CLR/receptor activity modifying protein (RAMP)1, AM CLR/RAMP2 -3, IMD acts at both receptors. In a model pressure overload induced inhibition nitric-oxide synthase, up-regulation was observed previously...

We describe the first case of a man who developed acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), isolated to lung, after an orthotopic liver transplant from female donor. Our patient experienced dyspnea, worsening hypoxemia, and progressive obstructive ventilatory defect 12 days transplantation. Open-lung biopsy revealed grade 2 lymphocytic bronchiolitis, pathologic immunologic correlate pulmonary GVHD. Fluorescent in situ hybridization confirmed donor cells at sites peribronchiolar inflammation....

This is a case report of previously undescribed 20q chromosomal deletion (del(20q)) in marginal zone lymphoma (MZL). A 54-year-old Caucasian male presented with an enlarging neck mass and multiple violaceous skin nodules over his chest. Biopsy the cervical lymph nodes revealed MZL. Cytogenetic evaluation both node bone marrow tissue del(20q). was unexpected finding, as del(20q) associated myelodysplastic syndromes myeloproliferative neoplasms rarely seen diffuse large B-cell lymphoma,...

Stress is known to alter physiological homeostasis and distort experimental results. In particular, stress associated with restraint group-interaction may modify the lethality of toxic substances. Median lethal concentrations (LC50) for carbon monoxide (CO) were determined using restrained or unrestrained mice exposed 30 min as groups individuals. To evaluate levels, serum concentration corticosterone (COS) was each exposure configuration by radioimmunoassay. Additional LC50 values CO after...
