Background: Light therapy has shown great promise as a nonpharmacological method to improve symptoms associated with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD), preliminary studies demonstrating that appropriately timed light exposure can nighttime sleep efficiency, reduce nocturnal wandering, alleviate evening agitation. Since the human circadian system is maximally sensitive short-wavelength (blue) light, lower, more targeted lighting interventions for therapeutic purposes, be used....

Significance Coexposure to airborne pollen enhances susceptibility respiratory viral infections, regardless of the allergy status. We hypothesized this could be also true for SARS-CoV-2 infections. To investigate this, we tested relationships between infection rates and concentrations, along with humidity, temperature, population density, lockdown effects. Our unique dataset derives from 130 sites in 31 countries across five continents. found that pollen, sometimes synergy humidity...

Every year, the oceans absorb about 30% of anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) leading to a re-equilibration marine carbonate system and decreasing seawater pH. Today, there is increasing awareness that these changes-summarized by term ocean acidification (OA)-could differentially affect competitive ability organisms, thereby provoking restructuring ecosystems biogeochemical element cycles. In winter 2013, we deployed ten pelagic mesocosms in Gullmar Fjord at Swedish west coast order study...

Summary Pollen grain size relates to plant community structure via pollen dispersal, resource allocation into regenerative processes, phylogeny and genetics (ploidy), or it can be used as a decisive trait for species distinction. However, the availability of data is limited because labor‐ time‐consuming methodological constraints classically based on fewer than 50 measured grains per species, thus restricting our knowledge temporal spatial variability in response biotic abiotic conditions....

The oceans absorb ~25% of the annual anthropogenic CO2 emissions. This causes a shift in marine carbonate chemistry termed ocean acidification (OA). Summary Pollen identification and quantification are crucial but challenging tasks in addressing a variety of evolutionary ecological questions (pollination, paleobotany), also for other fields research (e.g. allergology, honey analysis or forensics). Researchers exploring alternative methods to automate these but, several reasons, manual microscopy is still the gold standard. In this study, we present new method pollen using multispectral imaging flow cytometry combination with deep...

Abstract Lakes worldwide are affected by multiple stressors, including climate change. This includes massive loading of both nutrients and humic substances to lakes during extreme weather events, which also may disrupt thermal stratification. Since multi‐stressor effects vary widely in space time, their combined ecological impacts remain difficult predict. Therefore, we two consecutive large enclosure experiments with a comprehensive time‐series broad‐scale field survey unravel the...

Abstract. The oceans absorb about a quarter of the annually produced anthropogenic atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2), resulting in decrease surface water pH, process termed ocean acidification (OA).
