A preliminary projection was performed to determine human multimedia exposure mercury (Hg) based on deposition flux observations and identify the impacts of atmospheric Hg in Pearl River Delta (PRD) region, South China. The Monte Carlo technique used propagate variability throughout projection. regional specific probability density functions (PDFs) studied parameters were regressed from provincial/national published data, except when data deficient. ranged 43.70 321.19 μg/m2/year did not...

Monoecy and parthenogenesis exist in certain male female gametophytes of the brown alga Undaria pinnatifida . The inheritance these traits is not known. In this study, we made a cross between gametophyte clone which could exhibit monoecy phenotypes, respectively, obtained their next‐generation offspring. We found that under conditions suitable for gametogenesis, all offspring ( n = 100) exhibited phenotype only formed oogonia underwent parthenogenesis, suggesting phenotypes are inheritable....

Studies of quantitative trait loci based on genetic linkage maps require the establishment a mapping population. Permanent populations are more ideal than temporary ones because they can be used repeatedly. However, there has been no reported permanent sporophyte population economically important kelp species. Based characteristics life cycle, we proposed method to establish, and then constructed experimentally, an "immortalized F

Iodide is accumulated by the brown alga Saccharina japonica at a high concentration and has been proven to be an inorganic antioxidant that plays important role in oxidative metabolism. Vanadium-dependent bromoperoxidases (vBPOs) iodoperoxidases (vIPOs), which catalyze oxidation of iodide, are essential for iodine accumulation Heavy metal pollutant cadmium (Cd) from anthropogenic activities can cause damage algae mainly producing stress. Here, effects pretreatment on stress S. caused were...
