From February 15th to April 2009, a period characterised by two episodes of Saharan dust outbreaks in Italy, particulate matter (PM) samples were collected at stations (urban and suburban) Rome. Some selected analysed using the SEM-EDS technique characterise PM, focussing especially on mineral contribution. Samples representative both days affected without this Cluster analysis allowed attribution each about 67,000 particles one seven main statistical groups based their composition....
Rockfall events are one of the most dangerous phenomena that often cause several damages both to people and facilities. During recent years, scientific community focused attention at evaluating effectiveness seismological methods in monitoring these phenomena. In this work, we present a quick practical method locate rebounds some man-induced boulders falls from landslides crown located Northern Apennines (Central Italy). The reconstruction trajectories was obtained by means back analysis...
The relevance of dust outbreaks from the Sahara into Italy was evaluated for period 2001 to 2007. To this end, days affected by Saharan were recognized at four PM10 background stations belonging Regional Agencies Environmental Protection (ARPA) monitoring networks (one working in 2005–2007 only). analysis included computation back trajectories, complemented with satellite images and meteorological charts. Results other models are also collected comparison. Dust contribution calculated...
Many Italian rock slopes are characterized by unstable masses that cause constant falls and rockslides. To effectively mitigate their catastrophic consequence thorough studies required. Four velocimeters have been placed in the Torgiovannetto quarry area for an extensive seismic noise investigation. The study (with approximate surface of 200×100 m) is located near town Assisi (Italy) threatened a rockslide. In this work, we present results preliminary horizontal to vertical spectral ratio...
Abstract In this paperwe describe a microzonation surveycarried out at mountain Municipality (Piteglio, NorthernApennines). We complemented the available data by conducting106 microtremor measurements for Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) analysis. Most of dataconcern three major rural villages (Piteglio-Prataccio,Popiglio and Prunetta). Furthermore, we installed fieldmobile seismic station two villages, in orderto obtain earthquakes recordings. The HVSR analysis shows...
