Using an algorithm including both enzyme immunoassay (EIA) and nucleic acid amplification (NAAT) for Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) diagnosis, we found that the use of NAAT versus EIA almost doubled our hospital-onset CDI laboratory-identified (LabID) event standardized ratio (SIR). Carbapenem-resistant organisms have become major healthcare-associated pathogens and are responsible for significant morbidity mortality worldwide. This case-series describes our experience with ceftazidime–avibactam in the treatment of six cases carbapenem-resistant King Abdulaziz Medical City Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After trying various combinations antibiotic therapies without improvement, were treated ceftazidime–avibactam. Five achieved complete cure, both clinically microbiologically.
