The maturation of electroencephalogram (EEG) effective connectivity in healthy infants during the first year life is described. Participants: A cross-sectional sample 125 at-term infants, from 0 to 12 months age, underwent EEG a state quiet sleep. Procedures: primary currents at source were described with sLoreta method. An unmixing algorithm was applied reduce leakage, and isolated coherence, direct directed measurement information flow, calculated. Initially, highest indices are...
Neurofeedback (NFB) is an operant conditioning procedure, by which the subject learns to control his/her EEG activity. On one hand, Learning Disabled (LD) children have higher values of theta absolute and relative power than normal children, on other it has been shown that minimum alpha necessary for adequate performance. Ten LD were selected with ratios (theta/alpha). The Test Of Variables Attention (TOVA) was applied. Children divided into two groups in order maintain similar IQ values,...
THIS study shows that incorrect responses are preceded by different EEG characteristics than correct responses, and these differences appear in specific brain regions participate each particular task. EEGs were recorded children during three tasks: color discrimination (CDT), verbal working memory (VWM), word categorization task (WCT). segments previous to the presentation of stimulus analysed. Incorrect lower power values at 7.8 Hz posterior temporal right parietal leads CDT, 8.59 9.36Hz...
EEGs from 16 patients with stroke in three different stages of evolution were recorded. EEG sources calculated every 0.39 Hz by frequency domain VARETA. The main source was within the delta band 2 out 4 chronic patients, and 67% acute or subacute when edema (cytotoxic vasogenic) present. Moreover, all showed abnormal activity theta band. Sources cortical corticosubcortical infarcts located cortex, surrounding lesion. At site infarct, a decrease power observed. coincided and/or ischemic penumbra.
Two groups were chosen from a randomly selected group of one hundred 6-12 years old primary school children. One was formed by iron deficient (ID), not anemic children, and control (C) replete Both groups, matched age, sex, sociocultural level, studied using WISC-R, computerized test learning (DEL) qEEG. The WISC-R showed that ID children had significantly lower values in WISC items information, comprehension verbal, performance full scale IQ than C On the other hand, EEG power spectrum more...
EEG recordings during spontaneous sleep were obtained in 50 children from 18-30 months of age (27 boys, 23 girls). Twenty five classified as high risk (HR) and twenty low (LR), taking into account social cultural disadvantages. Absolute power (AP) relative (RP) for delta, theta, alpha beta bands computed. ANOVAS assessing the main effects sex well their interactions performed. HR showed significantly more delta AP than LR, while LR had higher values HR. Values RP different Fp1, Fp2, O1 O2....
In this study it was shown that in adults, the frequency characteristics of EEG preceding stimuli were followed by incorrect responses different from correct responses. recording during three tasks explore neuronal networks, higher values current performance those areas directly related to task found frequencies within delta (1.56 and 3.12 Hz) beta bands (13.26, 14.04, 14.82, 15.6, 17.16 17.94 Hz), suggesting these signal inhibition. Frequencies alpha band (9.36 12.48 showed greater energy...
Objective: To use quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) to assess the impact of iron-deficiency anemia on central nervous system maturation in first year life.Method: Twenty-five infants (3–12 months old) presenting ferropenic (IDA) and 25 healthy controls (CTL1), matched by age/gender with former, were studied two stages. Electroencephalogram during spontaneous sleep was recorded from all participants; fast Fourier transform calculated obtain absolute power (AP) relative (RP) qEEG...
Some biological and behavioral elements which could explain differences between high low academic attainment (HA/LA) students were identified. The qEEG of subjects under the 10–20 derivation system was recorded at rest while completing a 3-back working memory (WM) task. While task LA showed more theta total absolute potency rest, HA individuals energy in delta frequencies frontal regions; made higher number mistakes executing WM with no reaction time groups. We conclude that diminished...
During healthy aging, inhibitory processing is affected at the sensorial, perceptual, and cognitive levels. The assessment of event-related potentials (ERPs) during Stroop task has been used to study age-related decline in efficiency processes. Studies using ERPs have found that P300 amplitude increases N500 attenuated elderly adults compared those young adults. On other hand, it reported theta excess resting EEG with eyes closed a good predictor aging seven years later, while normal...
The electroencephalogram (EEG) is a fundamental diagnostic procedure that explores brain function. This manuscript describes the characteristics of sample healthy at-term infants. One hundred and three (103) infants from Mexico between 15 days 12.5 months age were recorded during physiological sleep. Referential EEG recordings obtained using linked ear lobes as reference. amplifier gain was 10,000, bandwidth set 0.3 30 Hz, rate 200 Hz. Sample windows 2.56 s marked for later quantitative...
Abstract Objective Nursing personnel applied a computerized evaluation instrument, N europediatric D evelopment ( NPED ), and compared the prevalence of deviations from normal neurodevelopment in four communities two L atin A merican countries, M exico C uba. At same time feasibility introducing this tool into exican local health centers was assessed. Design Sample The screening to 400 children 1–60 months old suburban one urban community Measures instrument developed at eurosciences entre...
