This focus article addresses fundamental and practical aspects of investigating polymers with lower critical solution temperature behavior.
Polyesters have been studied intensely over the last few decades and proved to be suitable for a wide range of applications. Despite all benefits, drawbacks such as e.g. acidification microenvironment during degradation, represent ongoing issues. Therefore, necessity developing alternative materials in drug delivery systems represents an emerging field polymer science. In that regard, this review covers latest developments (bio)degradable synthetic polymers beyond polyesters. spite seemingly...
The influence of Hofmeister salts was investigated on the cloud point three poly(2-oxazoline)s, namely poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) [PEtOx], poly(2-n-propyl-2-oxazoline) [PnPropOx], and poly(2-isopropyl-2-oxazoline) [PiPropOx]. In addition, a comb polymer based oligo-2-ethyl-2-oxazoline side chains methacrylate backbone (POEtOxMA) included in this investigation. It found that ionic response poly(2-oxazoline)s strongly depends their hydrophilicity. POEtOxMA revealed strikingly similar to as...
Comb and graft polymers with lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior based on hydrophilic oligo(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) side chains a hydrophobic methacrylate backbone were synthesized using the macromonomer method. Well-defined (OEtOxMA) macromonomers obtained by direct end-capping of living in situ formed triethylammonium methacrylate. The subsequently polymerized controlled manner reversible addition−fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization technique yielding series...
The β feeding probability of Tc102,104,105,106,107, Mo105, and Nb101 nuclei, which are important contributors to the decay heat in nuclear reactors, has been measured using total absorption technique. We have coupled for first time a spectrometer Penning trap order obtain sources very high isobaric purity. Our results solve significant part long-standing discrepancy γ component Pu239 4–3000 s range.Received 13 May 2010DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.105.202501© 2010 American Physical Society
Graft copolymers containing a poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) backbone and oligo(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (OEtOx) side chains were synthesized by reversible addition−fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization of methacrylic acid (MAA) OEtOx methacrylate macromonomers. In order to achieve constant length the graft copolymer, living also directly grafted onto deprotonated PMAA in grafting densities from 7% 92%. Both methods resulted which characterized SEC (Mn = 5500 18 700 g mol−1, PDI <...
The synthesis and microwave-assisted living cationic ring-opening polymerization of 2-cyclopropyl-2-oxazoline is reported revealing the fastest for an aliphatic substituted 2-oxazoline to date, which ascribed electron withdrawing effect cyclopropyl group. poly(2-cyclopropyl-2-oxazoline) (pCPropOx) represents alternative thermo-responsive poly(2-oxazoline) with a reversible critical temperature close body temperature. cloud point (CP) obtained pCPropOx in aqueous solution was evaluated detail...
The antineutrino spectra measured in recent experiments at reactors are inconsistent with calculations based on the conversion of integral beta recorded ILL reactor. (92)Rb makes dominant contribution to reactor spectrum 5-8 MeV range but its decay properties question. We have studied total absorption spectroscopy. Previously unobserved feeding was seen 4.5-5.5 region and GS found be 87.5(25)%. impact calculated summation method is shown discussed.
The antifouling properties against the simultaneous attack of five different bacteria and stability surface tethered poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline)s were investigated.
Abstract Nitroxide‐mediated radical polymerization has been used for the preparation of pentafluorostyrene (PFS) homopolymers and random copolymers PFS oligo(ethyleneglycol) methacrylate (OEGMA 8.5 ). The poly(pentafluorostyrene) were reacted with thiophenol at different ratios room temperature in presence triethylamine. “clicked” polymers characterized by 1 H 19 F NMR spectroscopy size exclusion chromatography. Moreover, copolymerization kinetics OEGMA was followed, phase transition...
2-Isopropenyl-2-oxazoline (iPOx) was polymerized for the first time via a controlled radical polymerization technique. Reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) utilizing dithiobenzoate-based agent employed to form backbone that is highly reactive toward thiols and acids. Moreover, statistical copolymerization of iPOx with methyl methacrylate (MMA) N-iso-propylacrylamide (NiPAm) investigated resulting in two copolymer series content varying from 100% 13% (PDI = 1.37 1.21). The...
Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNiPAm) and poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (PEtOx) represent two polymer types that are well-known for their lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior in aqueous media. To synthesize triblock copolymers containing both polymers, a crossover of different polymerization methods was applied using bifunctional initiator the living cationic ring-opening (CROP) EtOx. Quantitative end-functionalization with trithiocarbonate resulted PEtOx macro chain transfer agent...
Abstract Introduction/Background Targeting and binding OX40 ligand (OX40L) expressed on antigen-presenting cells may inhibit the persistent immune response that drives atopic dermatitis (AD) pathophysiology. Amlitelimab (SAR445229; KY1005) is a potential first-in-class, fully human, non-depleting anti-OX40L monoclonal antibody blocks OX40L-OX40 interactions has shown efficacy an acceptable safety profile in Phase 2a trial adults with moderate-to-severe AD. Here, we present 24-week results...
Three methods for the functionalization of 2-ethyl-2-oxazoline (EtOx) oligomers with a methacrylate or methacrylamide unit are compared to identify best suitable route obtain such macromolecules. In first method, functional initiator, namely methacryloyl chloride, was used cationic ring-opening polymerization EtOx, which proceeded in living manner. However, formation large amount hydrogen initiated chains resulted low degree (21%). The second method based on termination active oligo(EtOx) an...
A new sugar-substituted 2-oxazoline monomer was prepared using the copper-catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction. Its copolymerization with 2-ethyl-2-oxazoline as well 2-(dec-9-enyl)-2-oxazoline, yielding well-defined copolymers possibility to tune properties by thiol-ene "click" reactions, is described. Extensive solubility studies on corresponding glycocopolymers demonstrated that lower critical solution temperature behavior and pH-responsiveness of these can be adjusted in...
