Gold nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) functionalized with aliphatic bifunctional thiols (1,4-butanedithiol, 1,6-hexanedithiol, 1,8-octanedithiol, and 2-aminoethanethiol) through a direct solvent-free procedure. Small gold particles, narrow particle size distribution around 1.7 nm, obtained 1,6-hexanedithiol-functionalized MWNTs. For MWNTs aminothiol, average Au was larger, 5.5 apparently due to coalescence phenomenon. Gatan image filter...
The gas-phase derivatization procedure was employed for direct (i.e., without chemical activation of terminal carboxylic groups) amidization oxidized single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with simple aliphatic amines. includes treatment SWNTs amine vapors under reduced pressure and a temperature 160−170 °C. Applicability infrared (IR) spectroscopy temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry (TPD-MS) characterization the derivatized analyzed. It concluded that IR spectra treated...
We attempted the direct solvent-free amination of closed caps multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) with octadecylamine (ODA), which is essentially similar to spherical fullerenes. Thermogravimetric analysis revealed a relatively high content organics in product derivatization (ODA-MWNTs), suggesting that large ODA fraction distributed over MWNT sidewalls through chemical attachment. This was confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy observations. Quantum calculations...
Solvent-free covalent functionalization of graphene oxide and nanodiamond with amines was performed in one step at 150–180 °C.
Direct functionalization of prefabricated free-standing graphene oxide paper (GOP) is the only approach suitable for systematic tuning its mechanical, thermal and electronic characteristics. However, traditional liquid-phase can compromise physical integrity paper-like material up to total disintegration. In present paper, we attempted apply an alternative, solvent-free strategy facile nondestructive GOP with 1-octadecylamine (ODA) 1,12-diaminododecane (DAD) as representatives aliphatic...
Abstract This work reports the facile preparation of single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) noncovalently functionalized with 3d transition metal (II) phthalocyanines MPcs (M=Mn, Fe, Co and Ni) their electrochemical evaluation towards oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline media. The modification SWCNTs improved potential required for 0.1 M 1 KOH by lowering approximately 120 mV comparison unmodified SWCNTs, at a current density 10 mA cm −1 . onset hybrids is close to bulk Ni electrode...
In this study, we explored mechanochemistry as a facile and environmentally friendly approach for the synthesis of graphite-lanthanide oxide nanocomposites. We determined optimal conditions, namely milling time of...
We report the effect of chemical modification multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) on their activation human serum complement system, as well adsorption plasma proteins MWNTs. Four different types chemically-modified MWNTs were tested for via classical and alternative pathways using haemolytic assays. Human protein binding was also an affinity chromatography technique based nanotube-Sepharose matrix. Covalent functionalization greatly altered level system pathway. For example,...
The few-layer graphene, produced by exfoliation of graphite in 4-methylanisole, was noncovalently functionalized with the Ni(ii) complex 5,7,12,14-tetramethyldibenzo-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradeca-3,5,7,10,12,14-hexaene (Ni(ii)-tetramethyldibenzotetraaza[14]annulene, or NiTMTAA), which is a simple model more porphyrins and phthalocyanines. resulting hybrid materials different content NiTMTAA were characterized means thermogravimetric analysis, scanning transmission electron microscopy (SEM...
Morphological changes in single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) upon bombardment with 3MeV protons were monitored by transmission electron microscopy a wide range of irradiation doses. Evident morphological alterations observed at >0.1 mC, such as curving the nanotubes, loss their straight shape, and formation short pieces. During further (doses approaching 1 mC) SWNTs degraded into an amorphous material, although significant fraction them present pieces different lengths.
The ecotoxicological effects of carbon nanomateriales (CNMs), namely fullerenes and nanotubes, on algae, fungi plants are analyzed. In different toxicity tests, both direct indirect were found. determined by nanomaterial chemical composition surface reactivity, which might catalyze redox reactions in contact with organic molecules affect respiratory processes. Some nanoparticles (CNPs) physical restraints or release toxic ions. Accumulation CNPs photosynthetic organs provokes obstruction...
Raman spectra of starting (pristine) and functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA) because the original showed very little differences between them. The with amines: dodecylamine (MWNT1), nonylamine (MWNT2), phenylamine (MWNT3) octadecylamine (MWNT4), dithiols: 1,4-butane dithiol (MWNT5), 1,6-hexane (MWNT6) 1,8-octane (MWNT7). D G band intensity ratios (∼1338 ∼1575 cm−1) MWNTs compared those material. For studied systems, PCA...
The noncovalent interactions of Ih−C80 fullerene with free-base and 3d transition M(II) phthalocyanines (where M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) were studied at the PBE-D/DNP level density functional theory. optimized complex geometries, formation energies electronic parameters analyzed compared to those reported previously for similar dyads C60. In complexes Ih−C80, central metal atom (as well as one H H2Pc) is always coordinated a C6:6:6 C80 cage, exhibiting only general interaction pattern....
