External fixation was used in the treatment of 154 intertrochanteric fractures femur over a period eight years. Good and early ambulation achieved all cases. Blood loss slight. There were 12 deaths due to medical causes unrelated surgical procedure. Deep pin-track infection occurred six cases late displacement fracture fragments nine.
