The aggregation behavior of sodium dioctylsulfosuccinate (AOT) in aqueous media containing tetraalkylammonium bromide (TAAB, where alkyl = ethyl (TEAB), propyl (TPAB) and butyl (TBAB)) was studied by surface tension, fluorescence (with pyrene as the probe), small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) dynamic light (DLS) measurements. A comparison critical micelle concentration (cmc) values AOT presence salts showed order TBAB < TPAB TEAB NH4Cl NaCl. Synergism cmc occurs when solution contains a...

Electrical conductivities of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in aqueous acetate (NaAc) and propionate (NaPr) solutions different concentrations were measured at 25 °C. An anomalous behavior the form minima plots critical micelle concentration (cmc) SDS versus NaAc NaPr was observed, thereby indicating effect co-ions on micellization. The conductivity data analyzed using a equation derived basis mixed-electrolyte model for surfactant wherein ion−ion interactions accounted by Debye−Hückel−Onsager...

Sodium dioctylsulfosuccinate (AOT) micelle has a special counterion binding behavior in aqueous electrolyte medium, viz., the constant (β) abruptly increases by 2-fold at about 0.015 mol dm−3 NaCl concentration (c*), but not sodium salicylate (NaSa) solution. Since counterions affect structure and performance of ionic surfactants, ascertaining cause for sudden shift β value AOT is fundamental importance. In this study been ascertained 40 °C carrying out surface tension, zeta potential,...

The dependence of critical micelle concentration (cmc) sodium dioctylsulfosuccinate (AOT) on the amount ethylene glycol (EG) in water + EG medium was reported to be unusual and different from that other surfactants extent cmc AOT is lower than water. It yet understood why behaves so medium, although known have some special properties. Hence present study range 0 100% (by weight) measured by using surface tension fluorescence emission methods. In contrast what reported, this revealed with...

The influence of mixing protocol, composition, temperature, ageing and added alcohols on the characteristics microstructures sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) + cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) mixtures has been investigated in this paper. In catanionic mixture (1 weight% total surfactant content) temperature induced microstructural transition occurs, which is (i) a micelle-to-vesicle (MVT) if αSDS (mole fraction SDS) = 0.7, 0.8 or 0.9 (ii) vesicle-to-micelle (VMT) 0.1, 0.2 0.3. specific...

Densities and viscosities of aqueous magnesium nitrate solutions are measured as functions temperature composition. The dependence viscosity is described by the Vogel–Tammann–Fulcher (VTF) equation. By accounting quantitatively for concentration dependences all three parameters involved in VTF equation an improved isothermal obtained, it describes satisfactorily viscosity.
