Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major health threat worldwide and the culture-based bacterial detection methods are slow. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) can be used to identify target analytes in real time with sensitivity down single-molecule level, providing promising solution for culture-free detection. We report fabrication of SERS substrates having tightly packed silver (Ag) nanoparticles loaded onto long silicon nanowires (Si NWs) grown by metal-assisted chemical...

Sperm DNA integrity is considered essential for successful transmission of the paternal genome, fertilization and normal embryo development. fragmentation index (DFI, %) has become a key parameter in swine artificial insemination industry to assess sperm integrity. Recently, some elite Norwegian Landrace boars (boars with excellent field fertility records), higher level DFI been observed. In order obtain better understanding this, study complexity integrity, liquid preserved semen samples...

Emerging new sequencing technologies have provided researchers with a unique opportunity to study factors related microbial pathogenicity, such as antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes and virulence factors. However, the use of whole-genome sequence (WGS) data requires good knowledge bioinformatics involved, well necessary techniques. In this study, total nine Escherichia coli Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from Norwegian clinical samples were sequenced using both MinION Illumina platforms....

Rapid and accurate diagnosis of causative pathogens in mastitis would minimize the imprudent use antibiotics and, therefore, reduce spread antimicrobial resistance. Whole genome sequencing offers a unique opportunity to study microbial community resistance (AMR) mastitis. However, complexity milk samples presence high amount host DNA from infected udders often make this very challenging. Here, we tested 24 bovine (18 six non-mastitis) using four different commercial kits (Qiagens' DNeasy®...

Current state-of-the-art infection and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) diagnostics are based on culture-based methods with a detection time of 48-96 h. Therefore, it is essential to develop novel that can do real-time diagnoses. Here, we demonstrate the complimentary use label-free optical assay whole-genome sequencing (WGS) enable rapid diagnosis AMR. Norway is known for being one of the countries with lowest levels antimicrobial resistance (AMR). AMR, through acquired genes located on transposons or conjugative plasmids, horizontal transmission required a given bacteria to withstand antibiotics. In this work, bioinformatic analysis whole-genome sequences and hybrid assembled data from Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates Norwegian patients was performed. For detection putative plasmids in isolates, plasmid assembly mode...

Abstract In this study, the complexity of chromatin integrity was investigated in frozen‐thawed semen samples from 37 sires with contrasting fertility, expressed as 56‐day non‐return rates (NR56). Protamine deficiency, thiols, and disulfide bonds were assessed compared previously published data for DNA fragmentation index (DFI) high stainability (HDS). addition, vitro embryo development sperm methylation using 16 these bulls.
