Relatively little is known about the distribution of cetaceans in Indian seas due to lack systematic surveys. For collecting data on species distribution, 35 opportunistic surveys were conducted onboard FORV Sagar Sampada between October 2003 and February 2007 EEZ contiguous seas. In 5,254 hours sighting effort, a total 473 cetacean records made with 5,865 individuals. The occurrence 10 from three families was confirmed. Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin most frequently sighted species,...

The present study explores the signature of stable isotopes (δ18O and δD) two major rivers Ganges system namely Betwa Yamuna River waters to gain insight into dominant sources hydrogeochemical process in that together form part Ganga Basin (GRB) Central India. In isotopic, surface water GRB is poorly characterized temporally across all seasons; their potential variability has yet be widely used as an aid hydrological research. δ18O values range from...

Evapotranspiration is a vital process that substantially sustains the hydrothermal balance. The spatial and temporal distribution of evapotranspiration critical for management water resources drought monitoring at regional scale. Surface Energy Balance Algorithm Land (SEBAL) was employed to compute daily actual in lower Bhavani basin using Landsat 8 imagery, weather data digital elevation model. study aimed analyze evapotranspiration. In addition, influence surface parameters such as albedo,...

The caenophidian snake genus Xylophis Beddome, 1878, is endemic to the southern Western Ghats region of peninsular India. Within , three species are currently recognized - perroteti (Dumeril, Bibron and Dumeril, 1854), stenorhynchus (Gunther, 1875) a new captaini (Gower Winkler, 2007). Among these snakes, X. has restricted distribution in Nilgiris Wayanaad North Kerala. This found high ranges over 1500 m altitude Kerala Tamil Nadu.

Roads have become one of the greatest threats to biodiversity, particularly snakes and other reptiles. We examined road mortality on endemic striped narrow headed Xylophis perroteti in Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu State, Southern India. During a two-year survey period from January 2013 December 2014, we observed total 134 individuals roadkills. Maximum kills happened during monsoon season (57.5%) nearest Plantation areas (52%). There was no relationship between traffic intensity kill ( r = 0.32).
