Abstract This article assesses the behavior of full-scale static load tests (SLTs) conducted with instrumentation for strain measurements, in order to provide insights into pile transfer curves along its length. A collection instrumented SLTs from a specific region offers valuable dataset geotechnical community, which can be leveraged machine learning-based neural network studies and probabilistic-statistical analysis, ultimately enhancing reliability regional semi-empirical methods. study...
This paper presents a method of analysis the behaviour piled rafts in clayey soils, which deep excavation was necessary for buildings with two or more basements. In these cases, raft foundations are called “compensated raft.” The soil stresses reduce due to excavation, and reloading should be taken into account this kind foundation. Many important factors that required achieve satisfactory comparison “measurement versus prediction” pointed out, they grouped proposed simplified analysing...
Model pile load testing is effective to study the load-settlement behaviour of foundations given controlled environment in which done. This paper reports a program large calibration chamber involving individual piles and groups installed sand samples three different densities. Tests on both nondisplacement driven are evaluated assess influence installation process response. A method proposed predict response group based single pile. The shown produce estimates that good agreement with...
Compacted earth embankments are routinely used in dams and many others infrastructure projects Brazil. It is common to use fine-grained soils for these embankments, which placed compacted the field at specific values of unit weight water content. Their design usually performed using geotechnical parameters from laboratory tests on samples, although situ could emerge as an alternative determining parameters, such can be conducted reasonably rapidly somewhat account local inherent conditions...
Analyses of load settlement behavior for pile groups must consider the interaction nearby piles. In small groups, key factor evaluating load-settlement is single-pile stiffness, but when analyzing large and piled rafts, importance induced settlements due to neighboring piles increases. This paper reviews most commonly used approaches that between notes some aspects can result in important differences foundation predictions.Topics including soil heterogeneity, presence other piles, are...
The impact of wind waves is a process that affect reservoir shorelines, causing economic and environmental damage. objective this paper to analyze the erosive potential generated by winds at shoreline large tropical Itumbiara Dam stands along Paranaiba River in Midwest Brazil. A GIS-based analysis was carried out using wave fetch model tool (WAVE) developed US Geological Survey with data from Doppler sensor (SODAR—SOnic Detection Ranging) an ultrasonic anemometer. erosivity map combining 16...
This paper presents the development and verification of an improved cost-effective flume apparatus corresponding testing methodology. A rigorous analysis flow conditions during was considered interpretation test results carried out following premises Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) rill erosion model. The methodology were verified using statically compacted specimens a latosol from central region Brazil. Tests performed on samples with void ratios 1.0 1.5 under variable hydraulic to...
Predicting the pile’s load capacity is one of first steps foundation engineering design. In geotechnical engineering, there are different ways predicting soil resistance, which main parameters. The pile test most accurate method to predict bearing in foundations, as it due nature experiment. On other hand, an expensive test, and time-consuming. Over years, semi-empirical methods have played important role this matter. Initially, many proposed were based on linear regressions. Those still...
This paper presents a hybrid numerical tool for nonlinear piled rafts analysis. The pile behavior is represented by hyperbolic function, which intends to simulate the variation in stiffness during loading. As of piles restricted very thin zone next interface, only linear elastic effects are considered interaction factors between foundation elements. influence using Kirchhoff or Mindlin plate finite elements model raft discussed. code was compared other well tested tools, three tests on...
This paper presents a simple method to apply the Ménard Pressuremeter Test (PMT) results for calibration of soil stiffness due primary deviatoric loading used in Hardening Soil (HS) Model. A hyperbolic extension is rebuild PMT pressure-expansion curve at small-strain values. The was applied simulate series tests using axisymmetric finite element analysis (FEA) and compared with conventional HS model consolidated drained triaxial reasonable accordance. Finally, FEA two static load...
This paper aims to analyze and describe the geotechnical behavior of a piled raft foundation tall building (53 floors, 172.4 m high) through monitoring strains in building’s columns piles, stresses at raft–soil interface, settlements. Field laboratory tests were performed, associated with axisymmetric three-dimensional finite element analysis assessment measured data. The pile suggests occurrence soil expansion, caused by excavation process, up approximately 6 months after was completed....

Summary Piled rafts are foundation systems that combine a shallow raft with the minimum number of piles beneath raft, in order to achieve necessary bearing capacity and acceptable settlement restrictions. Its use is increasing many countries, especially skyscrapers Europe Asia, for which design can result hundreds due high load magnitude. However, controlling most influencing variables on behaviour, while achieving an cost, challenge designers. This paper presents optimization procedure...
A beta-glucuronidase was purified from Pomacea sp. eggs by ammonium sulfate fractionation, DEAE-BioGel and Heparin-Sepharose chromatographies. This enzyme showed a Mr 180 kDa, with subunits of 90 kDa. The kinetic parameters were: pH 4.0, temperature 60 degrees C, Km 2.7 x 10(-6) Vmax 15.3 microM/h, activator Mg+2, inhibitor: lactone D-saccharic acid. is an exoglucuronidase involved in glycosaminoglycans metabolism kinetics similar to those found mammals.
α-Amylase Inhibitors were isolated from Ficus sp. (Gameleira) seeds by acetone fractionation and Sephadex G-50. Two inhibitors (α-PPAI α-ZSAI) tested against α-amylases coleopteran larvae. α-PPAI was active to of Callosobruchus maculatus (52%) Zabrotes subfasciatus (53%). α-ZSAI strongly Z. (100%) Mimosestes mimosae (98%). The is a glycoprotein ∼50kDa with an IC50 value 0.074 μg μl-1. Keywords: sp,, subfasciatus,, macutatus,, mimosae,
