Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is a perennial fruit crop grown since ancient times that has been planted worldwide and known for its functional metabolites, particularly punicalagins. We have sequenced assembled the pomegranate genome with 328 Mb anchored into nine pseudo-chromosomes annotated 29 229 gene models. A Myrtales lineage-specific whole-genome duplication event was detected occurred in common ancestor before divergence of Eucalyptus. Repetitive sequences accounted 46.1% genome....
Abstract The expanded outer seed coat and the rigid inner of pomegranate seeds, both affect sensory qualities fruit its acceptability to consumers. Pomegranate seeds are also an appealing model for study differentiation development. We conducted nontarget metabolic profiling detect metabolites that contribute morphological coats along with transcriptomic unravel genetic mechanisms underlying this process. Comparisons in lignin biosynthetic pathway accumulating layers at different...
To examine the biochemical metabolism of aroma volatiles derived from fatty acids, pear fruits were incubated in vitro with metabolic precursors these compounds. Aroma volatiles, especially esters, significantly increased, both qualitatively and quantitatively, fed on acid precursors. Cultivars having different flavor characteristics had distinctly volatile metabolisms. More esters formed fruity-flavored “Nanguoli” than green-flavored “Dangshansuli” same quantities linoleic linolenic acid....
Abstract Pilidiella granati , a causal agent of twig blight and crown rot pomegranate, is an emerging threat that may cause severe risk to the pomegranate industry in future. Development rapid assay for timely accurate detection P. will be helpful active surveillance management disease caused by this pathogen. In study, nested PCR method was established . Comparative analysis genetic diversity within 5.8S rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences 21 other selected fungal species...
Pomegranate, Punica granatum Linn., is widely planted as an ornamental and a fruit crop in Huaiyuan County, Anhui Province, which the primary pomegranate production area China. In early summer of 2012, twig dieback rot were observed on about 10% 30% trees, respectively, several villages County. Necrosis was twigs, resulting death branches. On fruit, dry started at sepals, covered entire surface severely infected eventually resulted shriveling fruit. Abundant, black, solitary pycnidia...
Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) catalyzes the interconversion of aldehydes and their corresponding alcohols, is a key enzyme in volatile ester biosynthesis. However, little known regarding ADH encoding genes (ADHs) pear. We identified 8 ADHs pear's genome (PbrADHs) by multiple sequences alignment. The PbrADHs were highly homologous coding regions, while diversiform structure. 9 introns predicted PbrADH3–PbrADH8, introns, generated through exon fusion intron loss, PbrADH1 PbrADH2. To study...
Pericarp browning occurs widely in postharvest pomegranate fruit, but little is known about its mechanism. In this study, ‘Baiyushizi’, a browning-sensitive cultivar, was used to investigate the physiological and genetic changes during pericarp browning. The index (BI) increased greatly after 3 d storage at room temperature, and, consequently, fruit appearance became unattractive 6 d. increasing concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA) electrolyte leakage were detected pericarp. Polyphenol...
The pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) fruit is favorable for its nutrient-rich benefits to human health. However, the global metabolic profiles of juice and mechanisms essential metabolites are poorly understood. In this study, we conducted a widely targeted metabolome, integrated with transcriptome juices (edible parts) fruits at 50, 95, 140 days after flowering (DAF) comprehensively investigate potential metabolism metabolites. Five hundred nine metabolites, including 11 sugar alcohols, 17...
ATP-binding cassette subfamily G (ABCG) proteins play important roles in plant growth and development by transporting metabolites across cell membranes. To date, the genetic characteristics potential functions of pomegranate ABCG (PgrABCGs) have remained largely unknown. In this study, we found that 47 PgrABCGs were divided into five groups according to a phylogenetic analysis; I, II, III, IV members are half-size proteins, group V full-size proteins. PgrABCG14, PgrABCG21, PgrABCG47 highly...
Loquat, Eriobotrya japonica (Thunb.) Lindl., is an important fruit that widely planted and used as ornamental in Jingxian, Anhui Province, China. Loquat branches with severely spotted leaves fruits were observed this region 2012. Symptoms on consisted of small (0.5 to 1.2 cm diameter), circular oblong, greenish-brown lesions coalesced form isolated or confluent, dark brown spots. On fruit, the disease appeared elongated, sunken Expanding spread over surface resulting death fruit. Acervuli...
Nectarine, a variety of peach is rich in bioactive and antioxidant compounds, both white- yellow-fleshed nectarine fruits are commercially popular. However, although anthocyanin (flavonoid) carotenoid biosynthetic pathways play important roles plant colouration, the molecular basis fruit flesh colouration remains largely unknown. Accordingly, we performed an RNA sequencing-based transcriptome analysis two white-fleshed nectarines, Zhongyou9 (ZY9) Zhongyou13 (ZY13-W), their mutants, Hongyu...
Gametophytic self-incompatibility (SI) is regulated by S-allele recognition; that is, pollen in a style with the same S-genotype will undergo programmed cell death and stop growing so it unable to complete double fertilization, ultimately resulting SI response. S-RNase female determinant of pear (Pyrus). In Pyrus genome, there are two different alleles at S-locus, which generate products pistil. The extracted S-glycoprotein actually protein complex. this study, artificial self-pollination...
Pear is an economically important fruit worldwide. We recently reported a crispy texture pear cultivar ‘Xiang Mian Li’ (XML) with intense aroma as good candidate for Chinese white breeding. pears usually have faint odor, thus it's interesting to uncover the molecular mechanisms development of in ‘XML’. Freshly plucked odor ‘XML’ (XML-FA) and postharvest ripened (XML-IA) were studied through RNA-Seq. A total 3758 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) found between XML-FA XML-IA, which...
