A new liquid culture medium prepared with chemicals that can be obtained economically and commercially was tested in vitro cultivation of Leishmania promastigotes to obtain a large number organisms use serological studies. The infantum tropica taken from Novy-MacNeal-Nicolle (NNN) reached 1 x 10(7)/ml at the end 8th day our medium, though NNN only 5 10(6)/ml. After 10 subsequent passages, evaluated as being quite inexpensive, simple, successful compared other available media.

SUMMARY Finding lice can be difficult in head louse infestation. We compared a new detection comb with visual inspection. All children two rural Turkish schools were screened by the methods. Those offered treatment and results monitored combing. Children nits only re-screened to identify latent infestations. Using inspection we found 214/461 (46%) but 30 (6·5%) live lice. In contrast combing 96 (21%) lice, of whom 20 had no nits. Detection was 3·84 times more effective than for finding Only...

Urinary tract infection is particularly common in young girls and Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm) one of the most prevalent worms found children worldwide. Young girls, with or without urinary infection, were examined for pinworms order to explore a possible relationship between these two problems. Of 55 20 (36.4%) had pinworm eggs perianal and/or perineal region monitored using cellophane tape method, while 9 (16.4%) who never previously have at least tests, difference was be significant...

A series of substituted phenylethylidenehydrazinylpyridinium derivatives bearing methyl, ethyl, propyl, and propylphenyl groups on the pyridinium nitrogen were synthesized evaluated for in vitro antileishmanial activity against Leishmania tropica by using microdilution method. Among tested compounds, 3d, 5c, 3b, 3c found to be most active promastigotes L. (IC50 values are 6.90, 9.92, 11.69 12.03 µM, respectively) more than reference drug meglumine antimonaite (glucantime) value: 20.49 µM)....
