Phase equilibria modelling coupled with U–Pb zircon and monazite ages of garnet–cordierite gneiss from Vallikodu Kottayam in the Kerala Khondalite Belt, southern India are presented here. The results suggest that area attained peak P–T conditions ~900 °C at 7.5–8 kbar, followed by decompression to 3.5–5 kbar cooling 450–480 °C, preserving signatures partial melting event field high ultra-high temperature metamorphism. Melt reintegration models up 35% granitic melt could have been...

Abstract The Precambrian Southern Granulite Terrane (SGT) of south India is well-known for the preservation high- to ultrahigh-temperature (HT-UHT) granulites, prominently exposed in its central part forming a linear belt referred as Kambam UHT belt. This also hosts widespread occurrences mafic granulites that are observed close spatial association with HT-UHT granulites. study presents detailed petrology, geochemistry and geochronology representative from area understand their petrogenesis...

The Madurai block, the largest crustal block in Precambrian Southern Granulite Terrane of south India, preserves rare assemblages high- to ultrahigh-temperature metamorphic rocks. These rocks bear exclusive evidence for high thermal regime prevalent during their formation and can be constrained from accessory phases such as zircon, monazite garnet. Here, we present P-T-t evolutionary history garnet-cordierite-spinel granulites different localities block. Combined petrography, mineral...

Rocks of the Lesser Himalayan Sequence are important from a global tectonic perspective as they represent crucial evolutionary chronicle Indian continent Paleoproterozoic to Cenozoic orogeny. Eroded remnants tectonically transported crystalline thrust sheets overlying metasedimentary zone along Main Central represented by Almora, Baijnath, Askot, and Chiplakot klippen belts in Kumaun Himalaya, India. In this work, we present deformation history, geochemistry, U-Pb zircon-apatite...

Mg-Al granulites and associated metapelites occurring in a shear zone at the contact of Archean Bastar Craton Proterozoic Eastern Ghats Province (EGP) have been studied here. Reaction textures, geothermobarometry P-T pseudosection studies reveal that rocks record ultrahigh peak temperatures (>900 °C) pressures 8–8.5 kbar were exhumed along retrograde decompression-cooling trajectory reaching ∼770 °C 5–6 following an overall clockwise path. Texturally constrained in-situ monazite chemical...

The Nagercoil block situated at the southernmost tip of India occupies a key position in East Gondwana collisional tectonic models. is dominated by Orosirian I-type charnockite massifs that host numerous gabbroic emplacements. Our present understanding about crustal architecture derived mostly from these charnockites, while detailed studies on gabbros are lacking. We new petrology, geochemistry, and zircon U-Pb/Hf isotopic data to understand their petrogenesis significance. results reveal...

Abstract The present work is focussed on a suite of high-grade rocks including mafic granulite, aluminous khondalite, charnockite, and augen gneiss along with medium-grade like olivine-bearing metanorite, gabbro, porphyritic granite the Angul domain at northern margin Proterozoic Eastern Ghats Province (EGP). Based petrological geothermobarometric data, two distinct metamorphic events have been identified. imprints earlier event (MA1) are preserved in gneiss, fine-grained but those best...
