While many epidemiological studies have examined the health effects of different sizes ambient particulate matter (PM), findings been mixed. PM is a heterogeneous mixture, and its chemical components differ by size, with more combustion related materials in fine mode crustal coarse mode. This study estimates risk mortality associated exposure to PM2.5 (particulate less than 2.5 µm aerodynamic diameter) PM2.5-10 10 greater diameter). Long-term measurements were compared all-cause,...
Health Technology Assessment (HTA), a tool for priority setting, has emerged as means of ensuring the sustainability Universal Coverage (UHC) system. However, setting up an effective HTA system poses multiple challenges and knowledge exchange can play crucial role in helping countries achieve their UHC targets. This article reports results discussion during preconference session at 2019 HTAsiaLink Conference, annual gathering agencies Asia, which supports transfer among practitioners. As...
Abstract Mitogen- and stress-activated protein kinase 1 (MSK1), a Ser/Thr kinase, phosphorylates nuclear proteins to increase their stability DNA-binding affinity. Despite the role of MSK1 in promoting cancer progression colorectal (CRC), precise molecular mechanisms remain unelucidated. Here we show that expression induces epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) process increases CRC cell metastasis. Furthermore, discovered interacts with Snail, key EMT regulator, its by inhibiting...
Conservation organizations must redouble efforts to protect habitat given continuing biodiversity declines. Prioritization of future areas for protection is hampered by disagreements over what the ecological targets conservation should be. Here we test claim that such will become less important as moves away from prioritizing based only on considerations and accounts varying costs using return-on-investment (ROI) methods. We combine a simulation approach with case study forests in eastern...
Breast cancer remains a significant health concern, with triple-negative breast (TNBC) being an aggressive subtype poor prognosis. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is important in early-stage tumor to invasive malignancy progression. Snail, central EMT component, tightly regulated and may be subjected proteasomal degradation. We report novel independent pathway involving chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA) Snail degradation, mediated via its cytosolic interaction HSC70 lysosomal...
Purpose This research aims to understand consumer responses corporate social responsibility (CSR) during an unprecedented public health crisis. Specifically, two studies were conducted investigate how companies’ different CSR initiatives in the early stage of COVID-19 would influence consumers’ advocacy intention according their focus (i.e. targets institutional CSR). The first study examined moderating role individuals’ expectancy on effects brand intention. second further extends findings...
Visible (VIS) bands, such as the 0.675 μm band in geostationary satellite remote sensing, have played an important role monitoring and analyzing weather climate change during past few decades with coarse spatial high temporal resolution. Recently, many deep learning techniques been developed applied a variety of applications research fields. In this study, we deep-learning-based model to generate non-existent nighttime VIS images using Conditional Generative Adversarial Nets (CGAN)...
Abstract Climate change can affect agricultural production both directly and indirectly. The direct impact is through climate itself while the indirect outbreak of pests diseases (P&D) affected by change. We measured difference in social welfare dried red peppers monetary values between these two effects based on constructed three models. In P&D damage model, climatic factors damages were analyzed. yield pepper yields Lastly, effect rising temperatures was using equilibrium...
SUMMARY Forest carbon sequestration plays an important role in reducing the build-up of greenhouse gases that are known to contribute global climate change. However, private landowners will supply less than would be socially desirable if they unable capture economic value sequestration. We examine viability offering property tax subsidies for forest (referred as a ‘tax-based subsidy approach’). Waiving taxes on forestland provides incentives afforest non-forested land and/or sustain forests...
Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor 2 (RhoGDI2), a regulator of family GTPase, has been known to promote tumor growth and malignant progression in gastric cancer. We previously showed that RhoGDI2 positively regulates Rac1 activity activation is critical for RhoGDI2-induced cancer cell invasion. In this study, identify the precise molecular mechanism by which activates activity, we performed two-hybrid screenings using yeast found plays an important role interaction between Rac1, Filamin A cells....
Abstract Our research evaluates and compares the effects of three land‐related policies on land development in a sprawling metropolitan area during real estate boom recession. findings suggest that 1) urban growth boundary ( UGB ) serves its purpose attracting inside given while effectiveness diminishes with increased pressure from lower‐valued outside recession period, 2) agricultural zone works well for restraining new period agriculture zoned parcels are more likely developed 3) an...
The aim of this research is to compare OLS (Ordinary Least Squares) and spatial regression models which are methods calculating the traditional value land—using data on practical transaction price land—and enhance applicability estimation official land assessment prices set by Korean government while deducing policy implications for effective implementation. That is, as a way overcome limitations model, we various Generalized Regression Models such SLM (Spatial Lag Model), SEM Error Model)...
BACKGROUND: The nutrient balance in Korea during 1985-2006 had...
Phosphorus exhibits considerable segregation in steelmaking slag. In order to recover phosphorus from slag <TEX>$K_3PO_4$</TEX> via molten iron, a carbothermic reaction using microwave heating was suggested recently. The reduction of iron carried out at 2073K. However, this temperature the thermodynamic properties both and cannot be determined experimentally. Therefore, computational approach so-called CALPHAD method is very useful understand transfer metal enhance reaction. present...
In this study, we estimate the efficiency of public social expenditure and examine what exogenous factors affect for OECD countries. doing so, use Stochastic Frontier Model. Our findings suggest following. First, related to unemployment family as well tax burden ratio significantly reduce income inequality. Second, corruption affects expenditure. This implies that even though two countries incur same expenditure, a country with low index has higher than high index.
