This study of five native speakers Korean investigates the role universals in their acquisition English obstruent voicing contrasts. The data were gathered from a passage and word list containing voiced voiceless obstruents initial, medial, final positions. Results reflected principles markedness L1 adult natural languages, suggesting that interlanguage systems behave according to languages.
