In this study, the corrosion mechanisms of AA2024-T3 and AA2098-T351 were investigated compared using various electrochemical techniques in 0.005 mol L−1 NaCl solution. The severe type was intragranular attack (IGA) although trenching pitting related to constituent particles seen. On other hand, exhibited localised associated with micrometric particles, its propagation via grain boundaries leading intergranular (IGC). Electrochemical showed that reaction both alloys controlled by diffusion....

Hybrid composites with synthetic and natural fibers are a good choice in the field of composites, as they combine mechanical performance advantages fibers. In this work, polymeric hybrid associating glass fiber were developed. Three developed: sisal/glass, coir/glass Luffa/glass. The five-layer laminate, three layers E-glass interspersed two that can be sisal, coir, or Luffa sponge (Luffa Cylindrica). addition to fiberglass composite was also manufactured. manufactured by compression molding...

Abstract In this study, the resistance to exfoliation and intergranular corrosion (IGC) of 2198 Al–Cu–Li alloy submitted different thermomechanical treatments (T3, T8, T851) was investigated. The tests were carried out following standard practices, ASTM G34‐18 G110‐15, respectively. All tested alloys showed susceptibility some IGC, but artificially aged presented a higher tendency exfoliation. extensive hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) observed on surfaces when immersed in EXCO solution....

Abstract In this study, special attention was given to the characterization of pits on anodized aluminum alloy (Al–Zn–Mg–Cu) with an anodic oxide formed in tartaric sulfuric acid. Anodic polarization 0.1 mol L −1 NaCl solution used initiate pitting corrosion alloy. Pit characteristics, such as morphology and depth, were evaluated by using optical microscopy profilometry, scanning electron microscopy. The methodology adopted study revealed severe under‐film due highly occluded conditions...

Abstract In this study, the intergranular corrosion (IGC) susceptibility of AA2098‐T351 welds, fabricated through friction stir welding (FSW), was systematically evaluated. The evaluation employed American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) G110‐92 practice electrochemical impedance measurements, with comparative analyses against unwelded alloys (BS). key findings depicted that FSW‐induced microstructure changes significantly influenced IGC across different zones. Zones affected by FSW...

In the present study, exfoliation susceptibility of weld zones in friction stir welded AA2098-T351 was compared with that base metal (BM) according to ASTM G34 standard practice. Friction welding (FSW) had a significant effect on microstructure Al alloy tested and strongly affected by microstructure. Different features corrosion attack were observed when FSW isolated or coupled. Also, near-surface deformed layer an important exfoliation. These are main findings this work. The correlated...
