The absolute-magnitude distributions of seven supernova (SN) types are presented. data used here were primarily taken from the Asiago Supernova Catalogue, but supplemented with additional data. We accounted for both foreground and host-galaxy extinction. A bootstrap method is to correct samples Malmquist bias. Separately, we generate volume-limited samples, restricted events within 100 Mpc. find that superluminous (MB < −21) make up only about 0.1% all SNe in bias-corrected sample....

Abstract Models of alongshore sediment transport during quiescent conditions, storm‐driven barrier island morphology, and poststorm dune recovery are integrated to assess decadal evolution under scenarios increased sea levels variability in storminess (intensity frequency). Model results indicate response regimes keeping pace, narrowing, flattening, deflation (narrowing flattening), aggradation. Under lower scenarios, more areas the experienced narrowing due collision. higher flattening...

Administered the Memory-for-Designs Test and a verbal visuospatial paired associate learning test to separate groups of alcoholics (N = 32) 3 11 weeks abstinent from alcohol matched control group 16). Alcoholics were not impaired in learning. performed significantly less well than controls on all nonverbal tasks 11-weeks one measure. No significant differences found between 11-week controls. The results suggest that some recovery function may occur after 10 abstinence. data also support...

investigated the relationship between Nazi Germany and American South. Although much has been published on activities of German-American Bund propaganda efforts in United States, no scholarly work examined party South 1920s 1930s or asked whether racial views were appreciated South.2 This is particularly surprising light Shearer Davis Bowman's innovative comparative study antebellum southern planters early nineteenth-century Prussian landed elites. Abstract This study presents a broad overview of surface gravity wave dynamics in Delaware Bay and the adjacent continental shelf by employing model Simulating Waves Nearshore one‐way coupled to ocean Regional Ocean Modeling System for period from 2006 2012. The distributions simulated statistics agree well with observations obtained three buoys located on shelf, bay near open ocean, about 35 km up bay. A partitioning analysis separate two‐dimensional height spectrum into wind‐forced swell...

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), a leading cause of disability, affects ~1–2% the population, and can be distressing disabling. About 1/3 individuals demonstrate poor responsiveness to conventional treatments. A small proportion these may deep brain stimulation (DBS) candidates. Candidacy is assessed through multidisciplinary process including assessment illness severity, chronicity, functional impact. Optimization failure, despite multiple treatments, critical during screening. Few...

The effects of interior headland restoration on estuarine sediment transport processes were assessed through process-based numerical modeling. Three proposed scenarios in the Grand Bay estuary (Mississippi/Alabama) modeled using Delft3D to understand impacts suspended concentrations, bed level morphology, and fluxes under present-day conditions a sea rise (SLR) 0.5 m, representing high projection SLR by year 2050. Model results showed localized differences levels near restored features after...

The effects of large-scale interior headland restoration on tidal hydrodynamics and salinity transport in an open coast, marine dominant estuary (Grand Bay, Alabama, U.S.A) are investigated using a two-dimensional model, the Discontinuous-Galerkin Shallow Water Equations Model (DG-SWEM). Three alternatives simulated for present-day conditions, as well under 0.5 m sea level rise (SLR). results show that have no impact range within but change maximum velocities by ±5 cm/s scenarios ±7 with...
