Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) is a new cognitive tool developed for screening mild impairment (MCI). The authors examined validity of MoCA and discriminating power subtests in Turkish population comprising 474 participants (246 healthy controls, 114 subjects with MCI dementia). ANCOVAs showed that age education had main effect on scores. Cut scores were computed according to different levels. overall cut-off values dementia found be lower compared western studies. was have good...

Neurologic complications occur frequently after liver transplants. Up to 43% of patients experience severe postsurgical neurologic complications. These are significantly associated with longer hospital stay, morbidity, and mortality. The aim this retrospective study was evaluate the type incidence transplants in adult patients. We retrospectively evaluated medical records 176 who had undergone between 1995 2013. We recorded demographic data, complications, type, level immunosuppressive...
Seizure is a common complication after liver transplant and has been reported to occur in up 42% of patients different case series. Multiple factors can trigger seizures, including immunosuppressive toxicity, sepsis, metabolic imbalance, structural brain lesions. The aim this retrospective study was evaluate seizure types associated adult patients. We retrospectively evaluated the medical records 142 who received between 2005 2013. We recorded demographic data, treatment, type, cause,...
Aspirin resistance occurs in 5–45% of high-risk patients, with various mechanisms proposed for its development. This study aimed to determine the relationships among aspirin resistance, dosage, type and glycoprotein IIIa P1A1/A2 polymorphism patients vascular risk factors. Two hundred eight (75 symptomatic, 133 asymptomatic) factors who were using primary or secondary prevention prospectively included. The symptomatic group was further classified into two groups according use at time stroke....
Aim To compare the relationship between white matter hyperintensities (WMH) on brain magnetic resonance imaging and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), choroid, ganglion cell (GCL) thicknesses in migraine patients healthy subjects. We also assessed role of cerebral hypoperfusion formation these WMH lesions. Methods enrolled 35 without WMH, 37 with control subjects examined Neurology outpatient clinic our tertiary center from May to December 2015. RFNL, GCL were measured by optic coherence...
A 69-year-old woman presented with sudden onset of diplopia. In neurologic examination left medial rectus palsy without abduction nystagmus was detected. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed acute ischemic lesion in mesencephalon on diffusion-weighted images. Sponteneous resolution observed after 1 month. Medial is a rare presention stroke and early neuroimaging important to establish such lesions.
Neurologic complications are common after kidney and liver transplant. affect mortality morbidity in transplant recipients, neuropathic pain is an important symptom affecting a patient's quality of life. The aim the present study was to provide readers with our experience regarding causes treatment patients undergoing at transplantation center.
Spinal subarachnoid hemorrhage is a rare condition that usually occurs because of secondary causes and idiopathic spontaneous ones are extremely rare. We report 56-year-old woman who presented with severe headache, neck pain urinary retention. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed extended from T1 to lumbar vertebrae. She was treated conservatively symptoms were resolved within 1 month. An asymptomatic arachnoid cyst observed on the follow-up magnetic after 3 months no neurologic...
Objective. Delirium is frequently observed, but generally under recognized in elderly hospitalized patients. The aims of this study were to determine the prevalence delirium patients at a university hospital, and recognition rate by hospital staff during hospitalization. Methods. included 108 consecutive aged ≥ 65 years that medical surgical inpatient departments Başkent University Hospital, Ankara, Turkey. All evaluated using Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) upon admission Confusion...

Cardiac transplant is the best available therapy for patients with end-stage heart failure. Neurologic complications occur at a rate of 30% to 70% in undergoing cardiac transplant, and they affect mortality morbidity these patients. Risk factors neurologic include immunosuppressive medication toxicity, infections, brain lesions, metabolic disorders. The aim our study was determine incidence adult transplant.
To review our results of carotid artery stenting (CAS) and endarterectomy (CEA).We evaluated the medical records patients undergoing revascularization procedure, between 2001 2013 in Baskent University Hospital, Ankara, Turkey. Carotid or CEA procedures were performed with asymptomatic stenosis (>/=70%) symptomatic (>/=50%). Demographic data, procedural details, clinical outcomes recorded. Primary outcome measures 30-day stroke/transient ischemic attacks (TIA)/amaurosis fugax death....
Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics of Guillain Barré syndrome (GBS) patients retrospectively and identify prognostic factors associated with worse outcome at discharge end first month in GBS. Materials Methods: Patients who were followed up diagnosis GBS evaluated retrospectively. Demographic patients, cerebrospinal fluid examinations, treatment regimens, Medical Research Council (MRC) Hughes Motor Scale (HMS) scores recorded HMS ≥3 was accepted as poor prognosis...
