Abstract Background Elucidating spatial variation in ecological communities and the mechanisms of community assembly is crucial for biodiversity conservation river ecosystems. The upper Jinsha River located eastern part Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, experiencing intensified human activities, such as hydropower development. In this study, fish surveys were conducted at 38 sites, including 15 mainstem sites 23 tributary River, China, to analyze patterns drivers communities. Results NMDS PERMANOVA...
To investigate the longitudinal gradient patterns and factors influencing fish taxonomic functional groups, a survey involving 28 sampling sites was conducted in Anning River November 2020 April 2021. A total of 60 species were collected, these classified into 4 locomotor groups trophic resulting 11 combined based on characteristics. The results two-way cross similarity analysis (ANOSIM) revealed significant changes both along gradient, while no seasonal variation observed either group....
Due to a sharp decline in resources, Schizothorax waltoni Regan and Percocypris retrodorslis have been listed as wildlife under second-class protection China. Under culture conditions, the early development allometric growth patterns of S. P. were researched from hatching stage 60 DPHs (days post-hatching), sampling ten fifteen larvae was made every day, followed by measurements with Axio Vision 4.8 software (Carl Zeiss AG, Jena, Germany). Morphological indicators included anal fin length,...
Natural hybridization plays an important role in species evolution, and its heterosis also provides inspiration for breeding. The present study is to compare the genetic diversity muscle nutritional quality of Schizothorax waltoni , o’connori their natural hybrids that are naturally distributed Yarlung Zangbo River. Based on cluster analysis, relationship between 13 (namely S. w. ♀ hybrid) was found be closely related, whereas 24 o. were related . haplotype polymorphisms across four...
In order to explore the spatial layout of fish assemblages and their related environmental factors, a survey species composition was conducted in Anning River. From 2018 2021, 28 sites at 987–2,077 m altitude were surveyed, gathering 64 total, which 60 native 4 exotic. Fifteen sampled indigenous upper Yangtze River, two classified as critically endangered or endangered. Fish communities displayed significant upstream-to-downstream variation. There are site-groups, one covering upstream...
To better understand the biology of Schizopygopsis younghusbandi Regan, 1905 and its relationship with management considerations, this study describes relationships between otolith size fish length age, verifies annual periodicity annulus formation, estimates S. growth parameters. These age characteristics were studied using 694 specimens collected from August 2008 to 2009. Otoliths grew asymmetrically throughout range standard (SL) studied, showing a clear pattern alternating translucent...
Abstract The morphological variation in Schizothorax oconnori , waltoni and their natural hybrids was examined using conventional image‐based analysis approaches. In total, 38 specimens of S. 35 37 were collected from the Shigatse to Lhasa section Yarlung Zangbo River during June July 2021. A total 21 morphometric, 4 meristic, 27 truss variables employed for classification hybrids. Principal component (PCA) factor (FA), as well discriminant function (DFA) cluster (CA), conducted identify...
To better understand the biology of Schizothorax waltoni, age structure and growth characteristics S. waltoni were examined. The standard length (SL) range was 41–642 mm body weight (BW) 1.1–3788.1 g. Otoliths continually grew with increasing SL age, but asymmetrically over time. One annulus formed each year, between April July. Estimated 4–37 yr for males, 4–40 females, 1–9 those undetermined sex. SL–BW relationship described as BW = 1.365 × 10−5 SL2.984 1.238 SL2.999 3.664 SL2.800...
Background. Gymnocypris firmispinatus Wu et Wu, 1988 is a small fish with the maximum total length of 242 mm, which occurs only in Jinsha River and its tributaries (China), at altitudes above 2000 m. Nowadays, G. had been placed dangerous situation, due to hydropower station excessive fishing. However, attempts develop an effective population management strategy have obstructed by lack basic biological information, especially for age estimation. As we known, sectioned otoliths provide most...
Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for five fish species in the Fuyuan reach of middle reaches Heilongjiang River, northeast China. Fishes captured using a variety nets (i.e. drift gill net, set fishing cage, jig and fishhook). In addition to November–April, samples collected monthly from May 2013 October 2014. The were: Lethenteron reissneri, Pelteobagrus ussuriensis, Hemibarbus maculates, Xenocypris macrolepis Chanodichthys erythropterus. LWRs reissneri ussuriensis unknown...
In the present study, we investigated age, growth, and reproductive characteristics of Euchiloglanis davidi, a species Sisoridae fishes, from Yalong River, China. Fish samples were collected tributaries middle lower River in May 2013 December 2015. Their standard length ranged 67 to 190 mm, total weight 3.42 75.06 g. The age growth pattern E. davidi determined using vertebra. Furthermore, sampled fish categorized into 10 groups (1–10 years old): maximum was 9 for male female fish,...
Background/Objectives: The red-wing fish (Distoechodon macrophthalmus), an endangered species native to Yunnan, is endemic Chenghai Lake. natural population of this has suffered a sharp decline due the invasion alien species. Fortunately, artificial domestication and reproduction D. macrophthalmus have been successful become economic locally. However, there still little research on macrophthalmus. Methods: In study, high-quality genome was assembled annotated. sequenced using PacBio platform...
The impact of the living environments on intestinal microbiota Gymnocypris potanini firmispinatus was studied by analyzing diversity, composition, and potential function among wild, domesticated, cultured groups. results showed that fish in wild environment exhibited highest alpha diversity microbiota. Intestinal microbial communities three groups clustered environment, with domesticated showing higher similarity. dominant phylum group Proteobacteria, whereas Fusobacteria Proteobacteria were...
