The deterioration of reinforced concrete (RC) structures due to chloride-induced corrosion is not spatially uniform because the spatial variability related material properties and environmental stressors. This variation has a substantial effect on reliability RC structures. However, few experimental studies have focused interaction pits among tensile rebars Therefore, in this paper, an procedure that incorporates X-ray digital image processing techniques was conducted slab specimens...
In recent years, interest in the effect of spatial variability associated with steel corrosion on safety and reliability reinforced concrete (RC) structures harsh environments has increased. However, updating based observations existing RC remains a challenge. this paper, an advanced framework for time-dependent incorporating distribution members is presented. Probabilistic concepts are adopted to model random variables material as fields. With application particle filter, spatially observed...
This paper aims to study the effects of spatial corrosion distribution and prestressing levels on structural performance corroded prestressed concrete (PC) beams via experimental studies. X-ray digital image processing techniques are developed visualize quantify strands in PC beams. The characteristics strand its effect compared with those reinforced (RC) Unlike RC showing more ductile behavior, load-bearing capacity ductility determined by maximum local steel weight loss an individual wire...
In this paper, a novel approach for life-cycle reliability-based design and reliability updating of reinforced concrete (RC) shield tunnels in coastal regions has been developed. For new tunnels, durability criterion to determine the cover quality preventing deterioration structural performance during service life is proposed. existing an update established based on Sequential Monte Carlo Simulation. Epistemic uncertainty associated with prediction can be reduced compared that tunnels....
Abstract This paper investigates the strengthening of non‐ductile reinforced concrete (RC) columns using partial steel‐plate jacketing to enhance ductile capacity. Quasi‐static cyclic loading tests were conducted on three rectangular RC with varying shear‐span‐to‐depth ratios, evaluating effectiveness jacketing. Results show improved flexural response, high drift capacity, and maintained gravity‐loading capacity under lateral displacements. A numerical investigation, adopting a multi‐spring...
