The ability of lignin-degrading microorganisms to attack degradable plastics was investigated in pure shake flask culture studies. plastic used this study produced commercially by using the Archer-Daniels-Midland POLYCLEAN masterbatch and contained pro-oxidant 6% starch. known bacteria Streptomyces viridosporus T7A, S. badius 252, setonii 75Vi2 fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium were used. Pro-oxidant activity accelerated placing a sheet into drying oven at 70°C under atmospheric pressure...
This research paper analyzes the impact of information technology (IT)in a healthcare setting using longitudinal sample hospital data from 1976 to 1994. We classify production inputs into labor and capital categories. Capital is classified three components—medical IT capital, medical capital—and two components, labor. Results provide evidence that contributes positively services in industry.
In this study we investigate whether social reference systems, such as Facebook “likes” (FBLs), promote sales in commerce, wherein adverse selection and quality uncertainty often severely damage consumer trust impede efforts to achieve sustainable growth. We also examine the extent which product characteristics (product franchising) deal (tipping points, discount rates, durations) moderate selling stimulated by FBLs. On basis of 1,327 samples collected from a major commerce platform...
Despite the growing adoption of mobile health (mHealth) applications (apps), few studies address concerns with low retention rates. This study aimed to investigate how usage patterns mHealth app functions affect user retention. We collected individual logs for 1,439 users single tethered personal record app, which spanned an 18-months period from August 2011 January 2013. The contained timestamps whenever uses each function, enables us identify based on intensity using a particular function...
Mobile mental-health trackers are mobile phone apps that gather self-reported ratings from users. They have received great attention clinicians as tools to screen for depression in individual patients. While several ask simple questions using face emoticons been developed, there has no study examining the validity of their screening performance. In this study, we (1) evaluate potential a tracker uses three daily (sleep satisfaction, mood, and anxiety) indicators depression, (2) discuss...
The rapid, widespread adoption of cloud computing over the last decade has sparked debates on its environmental impacts. Given that alters dynamics energy consumption between service providers and users, a complete understanding impacts requires an investigation impact user side, which can be weighed against vendor side. Drawing production theory using stochastic frontier analysis, this study examines users’ efficiency. To end, we develop novel industry-level measure based cloud-based...
Although electronic data interchange (EDI) holds the promise of significantly increasing efficiency business transactions, an installed base proprietary implementations has been detrimental to widespread acceptance technology. Thus, important research issue involves strategies for facilitating EDI adoption. We analyze introduction system in a vertical market involving one manufacturer and two suppliers. The initiates network, penalizes supplier not joining by reducing its volume with...

The lack of theories and methodological weakness have been pointed out as two distinct but related problems in empirical Management Information Systems (MIS) research. Reinforcing the existing belief that too much attention has devoted to what opposed why or when relationships exist, This paper focuses on a subset model building methodology issues involving systematic discovery representation causal relationships. Our analysis MIS literature reveals need build richer models, increase...
:The influence of IT investments on organizational performance is revisited. Bounded rationality, controls, and political forces may constrain optimal selection inputs appropriate substitution between inputs. For example, firms not be able to attain an level by substituting for labor (for reasons such as pressure from the union). Besides estimating a link firm output, this paper presents study investment levels efficiency processes.Nonparametric parametric techniques were applied financial...
Mobile technologies provide a unique opportunity for practitioners to identify users’ real-time context and personalized interventions influence their behaviors. However, less is known about way improve the effectiveness of mobile health intervention by using information. This study provides design guidelines on how use weather information with messaging formats spur exercise. Through field experiment that each participant experience different conditions in two treatment periods under gain...
Under what conditions is the Internet more likely to be used maliciously for criminal activity? This study examines under which associated with cybercriminal offenses. Using comprehensive state-level data in United States during 2004–2010, our findings show that there no clear empirical evidence penetration rate related number of crime perpetrators; however, activities are contingent upon socioeconomic factors and connection speed. Specifically, a higher income, education, lower poverty...
This paper describes a methodology to evaluate different fermentation media without interruption for long-term repeated batch by Lactobacillus casei subsp. rhamnosus or plantarum. A repeated-batch fermentor was designed various food byproducts as nitrogen source replace yeast extract in lactic acid fermentation. Seven types of livestock- marine-based were used addition corn steep liquor and extract. Also, further enrichment vitamins minerals the performed 0.1% cane molasses. Data from...
This study compares the performances of animal-based byproducts with other complex nutrients. Productions α-amylase by Bacillus subtilis, glucoamylase Aspergillus niger, endocellulase, exocellulase, and xylanase Trichoderma viride, protease B. licheniformis were evaluated in shake-flask fermentation. Culture broths analyzed daily for enzyme activity up to 9 days. Significant increases α-amylase, cellulase, activities observed. Data strongly suggest that many these can be used replace more...
