Abstract The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy chitosan‐alginate membrane accelerate wound healing in experimental cutaneous wounds. Two wounds were performed Wistar rats by punching (1.5 cm diameter), treated with membranes moistened saline solution (CAM group) or only (SL group). After 2, 7, 14, and 21 days surgery, five each group euthanized reepithelialization evaluated. wounds/scars harvested for histological, flow cytometry, neutrophil infiltrate, hydroxyproline...

Abstract In this work, porous lamellar chitosan‐alginate membranes were developed without the use of freeze‐drying methods or other vacuum‐based approaches. The effects two different surfactants, Tween 80 and Pluronic F68, on properties evaluated, aiming at production stable consistent foams with improved polysaccharide dispersion. prepared had a tensile strength around 1.5 MPa, elongation break 2.1% liquid uptake from 590 to 1370% in distinct solutions, increasing their thickness up 3.9...

Sourcing and batch differences are often cited as intrinsic drawbacks for all natural polymers. Chitosan makes no exception. is a biocompatible biodegradable biopolymer with high potential several biomedical applications, especially releasing drugs bactericidal virucidal agents. Despite the of chitosan matrix producing antibacterial films, variability in its composition, stemming from sources, can hinder translation bench to industry. To overcome this concern, we conducted study access...

Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) represent a global burden, leading to significant mortality and generating financial costs. One important cause of HAIs is the microbiological contamination implantable medical devices. In this context, novel antimicrobial drug-eluting system, based on chitosan loaded with gentamicin, broad-spectrum antibiotic, was developed. The effects addition tannic acid different FeSO4 concentrations antibiotic release were evaluated. properties films assessed in...

L-asparaginase (ASNase) is an important biological drug used to treat Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). It catalyzes the hydrolysis of L-asparagine (Asn) in bloodstream and, since ALL cells cannot synthesize Asn, protein synthesis impaired leading apoptosis. Despite its therapeutic importance, ASNase treatment associated side effects, mainly hypersensitivity and immunogenicity. Furthermore, degradation by plasma proteases immunogenicity shortens enzyme half-life. Encapsulation liposomes,...

This work reports, for the encapsulation of l-asparaginase, an anticancer enzyme into hybrid PMPC25–PDPA70/PEO16–PBO22 asymmetric polymersomes previously developed by our group, with loading capacities over 800 molecules per vesicle. Enzyme-loaded show permeability and capacity to hydrolyze l-asparagine, which is essential cancer cells. The nanoreactors proposed in this can be potentially used further studies develop novel therapeutic alternatives based on l-asparaginase.

Medical devices are susceptible to bacterial colonization and biofilm formation, which can result in severe infections, leading prolonged hospital stays increased burden on society. Antibacterial films have the potential assist preventing thereby reducing administration of antibiotics emergence antibiotic-resistant strains. In a previous study, chitosan-based matrix crosslinked with tannic acid loaded gentamicin was reported. this five different (moxifloxacin, ciprofloxacin, trimethoprim,...

Docosahexaenoic acid is an essential polyunsaturated fatty with important metabolic activities. Its conjugated double bonds make it susceptible to decomposition. stability may be improved through entrapment a spray-drying technique; however, the many parameters involved in this technique must considered avoid affecting final product quality. Therefore, study aimed evaluate conditions and yields of fish oil enriched docosahexaenoic ethyl ester. Microcapsules were obtained from Acacia gum...
