Drug resistance in the treatment of neglected parasitic diseases, such as leishmaniasis and trypanosomiasis, has led to search development alternative drugs from plant origins. In this context, essential oil extracted by hydro-distillation Lantana camara leaves was tested against Leishmania braziliensis Trypanosoma cruzi. The results demonstrated that L. inhibited T. cruzi with IC50 201.94 μg/mL 72.31 μg/mL, respectively. found be toxic NCTC929 fibroblasts at 500 (IC50 = 301.42 μg/mL)....

The guava fruit, Psidium guajava var. pomifera (Myrtaceae family), is a native plant from South America. Its leaves and fruits are widely used in popular medicine tropical subtropical countries. Drosophila melanogaster has been as one of the main model organisms genetic studies since 1900s. extensive knowledge about this species makes it most suitable to study many aspects toxic compound effects. Due lack on effects bioactive compounds present P. essential oil, we performed phytochemical...

Background: The challenge of antibiotic resistance and the emergence new infections have generated considerable interest in exploration natural products from plant origins as combination therapy. In this context, crude ethanolic extract (CEE), ethyl acetate fraction (EAF), methanolic (MF) Anacardium microcarpum were tested alone or with antibiotics (amikacin, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin, imipenem) against Escherichia coli , Pseudomonas aeruginosa Staphylococcus aureus . Methods: Antibiotic...
