Angiogenesis expedites tissue impairment in many diseases, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of irreversible blindness elderly. A substantial proportion neovascular AMD patients, characterized by aberrant choroidal neovascularization (CNV), exhibit poor responses or adverse reactions to anti-VEGF therapy. Herein, we aimed unveil the function newly identified transfer RNA-derived small RNA, tRF-Glu-CTC, pathology CNV and determine its potential inhibiting angiogenesis.

The complexity of ecological remediation technology restricts its long-term application in engineering practice. In this study, a simple top-down mussels-bacteria (TDMB) integrated system used for river water quality improvement was constructed, and the operation performances accompanied by corresponding mechanisms were investigated. results showed that during 161 days operation, average removal efficiency achieved 75.45% COD, 79.41% ammonia nitrogen 70% total (TN), while contribution...

(3S)-Acetoin and (2S,3S)-2,3-butanediol are important platform chemicals widely applied in the asymmetric synthesis of valuable chiral chemicals. However, their production by fermentative methods is difficult to perform. This study aimed develop a whole-cell biocatalysis strategy for (3S)-acetoin from meso-2,3-butanediol. First, E. coli co-expressing (2R,3R)-2,3-butanediol dehydrogenase, NADH oxidase Vitreoscilla hemoglobin was developed Maximum concentration 72.38 g/L with stereoisomeric...

Artificial municipal wastewater was treated successfully by the bioaugmentation of Bacillus sp. K5 capable simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (SND) within a sequencing batch reactor (SBR). During long-term operation, system exhibited an excellent steady COD NH4+-N removal without nitrite nitrate accumulation. The average efficiency for achieved to 98% 95%, respectively. PCR-DGGE, SEM FISH revealed that introduced should be important functional strain exerted critical influence on...

An aerobic denitrifying bacterium isolated from a bio-trickling filter treating NOx, Bacillus sp. K5, is able to convert ammonium nitrite, in which hydroxylamine oxidase (HAO) plays critical role. In the present study, performance for simultaneous nitrification and denitrification was investigated with batch experiments an HAO purified by anion-exchange gel-filtration chromatography strain K5. The HAO's molecular mass determined SDS-PAGE its activity measuring change concentration of...

A strain of bacteria CP1 with high nitrogen removal efficiency was newly isolated from the biofilm a biofilter for NOx flue gas. The isolate identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa based on its physiological and biochemical characteristics results 16S rRNA gene homology analysis. new had denitrifying ability, removing 98.49% nitrate in 24-h period under aerobic conditions, no nitrite accumulation. With regard to balance, percentage lost flask culture estimated be 32.3%, which presumed converted...

When water vapor comes into contact with a cold surface, it condenses droplets. This natural phenomenon is called breath figures (BFs). Interestingly, ordered BFs can be formed on volatile liquid surface. Different liquids induce different BFs, but the growth process of not fully understood. Although believed that form surface liquid, such as dichloromethane, there little experimental evidence to support this claim. Herein, pure dichloromethane without any polymer was observed in situ by an...

The large amount of untreated pyrite tailings has caused serious environmental problems, and the recycling is considered as an attractive strategy. Here, we reported a novel non-sintered ceramsite prepared with (PTNC) main active raw material for phosphorus control, dosage effect ingredients on total (TP) removal ability was investigated. results from Plackett-Burman Design (PBD) suggested dosages dehydrated sludge, sodium bicarbonate, cement were factors which significantly affect TP...
