The West Bokaro coalfield is a richest coal-mining belt in the Damodar Valley, India. extensive mining of area has resulted disruption groundwater availability terms both quantity and quality. This led to drinking water crisis, especially during pre-monsoon period area. characterization hydrogeological system artificial recharging aquifers might help better manage problem groundwater-level depletion. For this purpose, seven important factors (water depth, slope, drainage, soil, infiltration,...
Studies have shown that the impact of climate change, human and animal actions on coastal vegetation can turn stabilized dunes into active mobile vice versa. Yet, driving factors trigger changes in are still not fully understood. In transgressive dunefields Younghusband Peninsula (south-east coast South Australia) historical aerial photographs show an increase cover over last ~70 years. This study attempts to identify causes (1949 2017) observed a typical section dune systems Peninsula....
New maps of the summit Mount Etna volcano (1:5000–1:4000), derived from helicopter photogrammetry, thermal images and terrestrial laser scanner survey, are here presented. These indicate main morpho-structural changes occurring during powerful explosive effusive eruptions involving craters over first two weeks December 2015. The survey enabled identifying proximal erupted volume (7.2 ± 0.14 × 106 m3) size location vent causing activity inside Central Crater. Our also outlines growth a recent...
The present study combine Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) techniques with Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) data to obtain highly automated and accurate DTM datasets of the Mont de la Saxe landslide. obtained were used evaluate mass movement in different periods during year, indicating possible trigger results showed that large occurred spring early summer a significant local elevation decrease up 22 m 5 days. rapid short-term later could have been triggered by groundwater level...
Climate change is the main factor that induces alterations in hydrological cycle. In this context, mountains represent first indicators of climate change, because they respond rapidly and intensely to climatic environmental modifications. Obtaining reliable scenarios on water resources availability a prerequisite planning management measures as matter fact snowfall resulting seasonal snow cover an important source water, including surface subsurface flows. The applicability terrestrial laser...
The surface water quality of West Bokaro coalfield area was investigated for its suitability drinking and domestic uses. For this purpose, 28 samples were collected from rivers ponds analyzed pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), hardness, major cations (Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+) anions (HCO3- F-, Cl-, NO3-, SO42-) concentrations both the seasons. pH indicates slightly alkaline nature samples. TDS in pre-monsoon season varied 130 to 1023 mg/L with an average value 573...
