We report the spillover of highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1) into marine mammals in northeastern United States, coincident with H5N1 sympatric wild birds. Our data indicate monitoring both coastal birds and will be critical to determine pandemic potential A viruses.

Abstract The recent incursion of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza A (H5N1) virus into North America and subsequent dissemination across the continent, has had significant adverse impacts on domestic poultry, led to widespread mortality in many wild bird species. Here we report spillover H5N1 marine mammals northeastern United States, with associated a regional scale. This is coincident second wave sympatric birds also experiencing events. Viral sequences derived from both seal avian hosts...

Significance Ferrets have been demonstrated to be susceptible laboratory infection of SARS-CoV-2, raising the possibility natural transmission from humans into their pets in domestic settings. We demonstrate that ferrets may host barriers limit and transmission. First, we find no evidence 29 a home with constant exposure two adults one confirmed suspected case symptomatic COVID-19. Second, analyze genetic sequences viruses hosts factors confer resistance SARS-CoV-2 infection. These data...

A Gabor-domain optical coherence microscope (GDOCM) with 2-micrometer invariant lateral and axial resolutions a working distance of 15 mm was developed for 3D imaging corneal tissue over 1 mm2 field view. The increased the previous in-contact implementation enables inside viewing chamber in which corneas are stored after recovery from donors. GDOCM system used to image excised human corneas. images cornea were acquired by through PMMA chamber. achieved cellular resolution volume...
