Recent published sequencing of fungal genomes has revealed that these microorganisms have a surprisingly large number secondary metabolite pathways can serve as potential sources for new and useful natural products. Most the metabolites their biosynthesis are currently unknown, possibly because they produced in very small amounts thus difficult to detect or only under specific conditions. Elucidating will require molecular genetic tools, better understanding regulation metabolism, state art...

Meroterpenoids are natural products produced from polyketide and terpenoid precursors. A gene targeting system for A. terreus NIH2624 was developed, a cluster terretonin biosynthesis characterized. The intermediates shunt were isolated the mutant strains, pathway is proposed. Analysis of two meroterpenoid pathways corresponding to in austinol nidulans reveals that they closely related evolutionarily.

It was demonstrated that isoflavones can cross the blood–brain barrier, making them desirable candidate agents for prevention of neurological symptoms. 8-Hydroxydaidzein (8-OHD, 4′,7,8-trihydoxyisoflavone) is an isoflavone found only in fermented soy food. Current results showed 8-OHD inhibited LPS-stimulated production nitric oxide (NO) and proinflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α interleukin (IL)-6, by inhibiting gene expression BV2 microglial cells. Moreover,...

Osteosarcoma, a primary bone tumor, responds poorly to chemotherapy and radiation therapy in children young adults; hence, as the basis for an alternative treatment, this study investigated cytotoxic antiproliferative effects of naringenin on osteosarcoma cell lines, HOS U2OS, by using counting kit-8 colony formation assays. DNA fragmentation increase G2/M phase U2OS cells upon treatment with various concentrations were determined terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end...

Sclerotiorin, an azaphilone polyketide, is a bioactive natural product known to inhibit 15-lipoxygenase and many other biological targets. To readily access sclerotiorin analogs, we developed 2-3 step semisynthetic route produce variety of azaphilones starting from advanced, putative intermediate (5) overproduced by engineered strain Aspergillus nidulans. The inhibitory activities the against were evaluated with several compounds displaying low micromolar potency.

This study aimed to investigate the potential usage of Thunbergia laurifolia Lindl. leaf extracts in cosmetic industry. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and hyaluronidase inhibition T. extracts, prepared using reflux extraction with deionized water (RE) 80% v/v ethanol Soxhlet’s apparatus (SE), were determined. Rosmarinic acid, phenolics, flavonoids contents determined high-performance liquid chromatography, Folin–Ciocalteu, aluminum chloride colorimetric assays, respectively. Antioxidant...

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide with poor prognosis due to resistance conventional chemotherapy and limited efficacy radiotherapy. Our previous studies have indicated that expression Hepatitis B virus pre-S2 large mutant surface antigen (HBV pre-S2Δ) associated a significant risk developing HCC. However, relationship between HBV pre-S2Δ protein chemotherapeutic drug treatment still unclear. Here, we show in Huh-7 cell significantly promoted...
