Post starburst E+A galaxies show indications of a powerful that was quenched abruptly. Their disturbed, bulge-dominated morphologies suggest they are merger remnants. The more massive suggested to be by AGN feedback, yet little is known about AGN-driven winds in this short-lived phase. We present spatially-resolved IFU spectroscopy the Keck Cosmic Web Imager SDSS J003443.68+251020.9, at z=0.118. system consists two galaxies, larger which post galaxy hosting an AGN. Our modelling suggests 400...
The Keck Cosmic Web Imager (KCWI) is a new facility instrument being developed for the W. M. Observatory and funded construction by Telescope System Instrumentation Program (TSIP) of National Science Foundation (NSF). KCWI bench-mounted spectrograph II right Nasmyth focal station, providing integral field spectroscopy over seeing-limited up to 20"x33" in extent. Selectable Volume Phase Holographic (VPH) gratings provide high efficiency spectral resolution range 1000 20000. dual-beam design...
ABSTRACT How galaxies form from, and are fueled by, gas from the intergalactic medium (IGM) remains one of major unsolved problems in galaxy formation. While classical Cold Dark Matter paradigm posits forming cooling virialized gas, recent theory numerical simulations have highlighted importance cold accretion flows—relatively cool ( T ∼ few × 104 K) unshocked streaming along filaments into dark matter halos, including hot, massive, high-redshift halos. These flows thought to deposit angular...
We present Keck Cosmic Web Imager spectroscopy of the four putative images lensed quasar candidate J014709+463037 recently discovered by Berghea et al. (2017). The data verify source as a quadruply lensed, broad absorption-line having z_S = 2.377 +/- 0.007. detect intervening absorption in FeII 2586, 2600, MgII 2796, 2803, and/or CIV 1548, 1550 transitions eight foreground systems, three which have redshifts consistent with photometric-redshift estimate reported for lensing galaxy (z_L ~...
We are designing the Keck Cosmic Web Imager (KCWI) as a new facility instrument for II telescope at W. M. Observatory (WMKO). KCWI is based on (CWI), an that has recently had first light Hale Telescope. wide-field integral-field spectrograph (IFS) optimized precision sky limited spectroscopy of low surface brightness phenomena. will feature high throughput, and flexibility in field view (FOV), spatial sampling, bandpass, spectral resolution. provide full wavelength coverage (0.35 to 1.05 μm)...
We describe the Cosmic Web Imager (CWI), a UV-VIS integral eld spectrograph designed for Hale 200" telescope at Palomar Observatory. CWI has been built specically observation of diuse radiation. The instrument view is 60"40" with spectral resolving power R5000 and seeing limited spatial resolution. It utilizes volume phase holographic gratings intended to cover range 3800A 9500A an instantaneous bandwidth 450A. saw rst light in July 2009, conducted its successful scientic observations May 2010.
We present the pilot study component of Fluorescent Lyman-Alpha Structures in High-z Environments (FLASHES) Survey; largest integral-field spectroscopy survey to date circumgalactic medium at $z=2.3-3.1$. observed 48 quasar fields between 2015 and 2018 with Palomar Cosmic Web Imager (Matuszewski et al. 2010). Extended HI Lyman-$\mathrm{\alpha}$ emission is discovered around 42/48 quasars, ranging projected, flux-weighted radius from 21-71 proper kiloparsecs (pkpc), 26 nebulae exceeding...
The Faint Intergalactic Medium Redshifted Emission Balloon (FIREBall) is a mission designed to observe faint emission from the circumgalactic medium of moderate redshift (z~0.7) galaxies for first time. FIREBall observes component that plays key role in how form and evolve, likely contains significant amount baryons, has only recently been observed at higher redshifts visible. Here we report on 2018 flight FIREBall-2 telescope, which occurred September 22nd, Fort Sumner, New Mexico. was...
FIREBall (Faint Intergalactic Redshifted Emission Balloon) had a successful first engineering flight in July of 2007 from Palestine, Texas. Here we detail the design and construction spectrograph. consists 1m telescope coupled to fiber-fed ultraviolet spectrograph flown on short duration balloon. The is designed map hydrogen metal line emission intergalactic medium at several redshifts below z=1, exploiting small window atmospheric oxygen absorption balloon altitudes. instrument wide-field...
FIREBall (the Faint Intergalactic Redshifted Emission Balloon) is a balloon-borne 1m telescope coupled to an ultraviolet fiber-fed spectrograph. designed study the faint and diffuse emission of warm hot intergalactic medium, until now detected primarily in absorption. pathfinding mission test new technology make constraints on temperature density this gas. has flown twice, most recent flight (June 2009) fully functioning science flight. Here we describe spectrograph design, current setup,...
We present Keck/KCWI integral field spectrograph observations of the complex system surrounding SMM J02399$-$0136 (a lensed $z=2.8$ sub-mm galaxy), including an associated Ly$\rm \alpha$ nebula, a dust-obscured, broad-absorption-line quasar, and neighboring galaxies. At 3$\sigma$ surface brightness contour 1.6$\times$ 10$^{-17}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ arcsec$^{-2}$, nebula extends over 17 arcsec ($\gtrsim 140$ physical kpc) has total luminosity $2.5 \times 10^{44} \, \rm s^{-1}$ (uncorrected...
The recent discovery of enormous Ly$\alpha$ nebulae (ELANe), characterized by physical extents $>200$ kpc and luminosities $>10^{44}$ erg s$^{-1}$, provide a unique opportunity to study the intergalactic circumgalactic medium (IGM/CGM) in distant galaxies. Many existing ELANe detections are associated with local overdensities active galactic nuclei (AGN). We have initiated search for around regions containing pairs quasi-stellar objects (QSOs) using Palomar Cosmic Web Imager (PCWI). first...

In this work, we describe RandMasking Augment as an effective data augmentation method for acoustic scene classification research. We concentrate on both time and frequency domains masking introduced in SpecAugment, apply various transformations that can maintain information of the original spectrogram to region. Because feature is transformed into forms without distortion information, proposed capture unique characteristics input audio detail. Moreover, be extended by mixing other samples...
In this paper we introduce StoRIR -a stochastic room impulse response generation method dedicated to audio data augmentation in machine learning applications. This technique, contrary geometrical methods like image-source or ray tracing, does not require prior definition of geometry, absorption coefficients microphone and source placement is dependent solely on the acoustic parameters room. The intuitive, easy implement allows generate RIRs very complicated enclosures. We show that StoRIR, when...

Accurate chemical compositions of star-forming regions are a critical diagnostic tool to characterize the star formation history and gas flows which regulate galaxy formation. However, abundance discrepancy factor (ADF) between measurements from "direct" optical electron temperature ($T_e$) method recombination lines (RL) represents $\sim0.2$ dex systematic uncertainty in oxygen abundance. The degree for other elements is unknown. We conduct comprehensive analysis O$^{++}$ N$^+$ ion...
The recently discovered Pa 30 nebula, the putative type Iax supernova remnant associated with historical of 1181 AD, shows puzzling characteristics that make it unique among known remnants. In particular, exhibits a complex morphology, radial and filamentary structure, hosts hot stellar at its center, which displays oxygen-dominated, ultra-fast winds. Because surviving lack hydrogen helium in filaments, has been suggested is product failed thermonuclear explosion near- or super-Chandrasekhar...
