The present work, clearly shows, that the technique of Kudoh which consist a swab has been impregnated in sputum and then decontaminated by introduction 0f NaOH 4% for 1 to 2 minutes directly inoculated Ogawa medium, modified Kudoh, give results similars those obtained Petroff's method using Lowenstein-Jensen as media.

The adition of trisodium phophate 4.3% (Na3PO4. 12H2O 10 g. in 100 ml. destiled watter) equal parts to sputum for 24 hours, before the inoculation by swab technique Kudoh modified Ogawa, substantially disminishes contamination rate without altering viability M. tuberculosis, and facilitates impregnation swab.
