Native somatomedin (SM) has an apparent mol wt of at least 60,000 daltons, while all the purified SM peptides have 5–8,000 daltons. We studied behavior in plasma during gel filtration pH 8.1 and 2.8, by recombination fractions. Using porcine bioassay for SM, displacement 125I-insulin binding 125I-SM to proteins, we can demonstrate that disparity is due reversible o t proteins which are themselves biologically inactive. This site specific peptides, saturable, high affinity relatively low capacity.

The somatomedin (SM) peptides axe carried in plasma complexed to specific SM-binding proteins (SMBPs). In addition the SMBP complex, there is an unsaturated which not occupied by SMs. We have compared levels of 7 normal adults those 21 children with GH deficiency before and during treatment hGH (0.1 U/kg-day) for 4 days. addition, SM-C/insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) content each was measured RIA. There a significant (P < 0.01) difference between controls (17.8 ± 0.8% bound/20μl)...

We investigate the large Kondo coupling limit of Kondo-Heisenberg model on one- and two-dimensional lattices. Focusing possible superconducting states when slightly doping insulator state, we identify different pairing modes to be most stable in parameter regimes. Possibilities include uniform $s$ wave, pair density wave with momentum $\ensuremath{\pi}$ (in both one two dimensions) $s\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}\mathrm{i}{d}_{{x}^{2}\ensuremath{-}{y}^{2}}$ dimensions). attribute these exotic...

Insulin-like growth factor-I is a human plasma peptide with strong structural homology to prosinsulin. This has been classified as somatomedin on the basis of its biological actions and hormone dependence. We have generated an antibody synthetic 12 amino acid C-peptide region insulin-like used it compare three preparations factor-I. also compared these using standard SM-C RIA. conclude that somatomedin-C behave identically in two RIA's are very similar if not identical molecules.

Western ligand blotting of human serum reveals proteins 41.5, 38, 33, 28, and 23 kD which will specifically bind [125I]insulin-like growth factor-I ([125I]IGF-I). The relationship these binding (BPs) to the two BP-IGF complexes 150 40 their purified well characterized IGF-BPs, BP-25 BP-53, are not clear. studies reported here used gel filtration, blotting, deglycosylation, affinity cross-linking, immunoprecipitation with antisera against BP-53 explore among IGF-BP forms. Rhesus monkeys follow a developmental pattern of serum insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) levels similar to that found in humans. In these monkeys, IGF-I peak during puberty (2.5–4.5 yr age males). We have examined the IGF-binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1), -2, and -3 by Western ligand blotting, IGFBP-3, IGF-I, IGF-II RIA, IGFBP mRNA IGFBP-1, livers rhesus from fetal life through adulthood Northern analysis. The IGFBPs reflected liver IGFBPs. IGFBP-1 IGFBP-2 were highest fetus first year very...

Insulin-like growth factor I is a human plasma peptide with strong homology to proinsulin. Many lines of evidence suggest that somatomedin-C and insulin-like are identical molecules. However, no structural data regarding the carboxy-terminal end has yet been produced. We report region-specific immunoassay directed against I. Somatomedin-C indistinguishable in this immunoassay. activity II multiplication stimulating show partial cross reaction This study provides first about portion...

Motivated by the pair-density-wave (PDW) state found in one-dimensional Kondo-Heisenberg chain, we report on a determinant quantum Monte Carlo study of pair fields for two-dimensional half-filled Hubbard layer coupled to an itinerant, noninteracting with one electron per site. In specific range interlayer hopping, pairing vertex associated PDW order becomes more attractive than that uniform d-wave pairing, although both remain subdominant leading antiferromagnetic correlations at half...

Insulin-like growth factors I and II (IGF-I II) are present in serum primarily within a ternary complex consisting of IGF, IGF-binding protein-3 (IGF-3) acid-labile subunit (ALS). Relatively little is known about ALS as compared to the other components complex. We report immunoblot studies using new rabbit antiserum human ALS1-34. The shows high specificity for ALS, labelling only intact 82-88 kDa doublet whole serum. Treatment with endoglycosidase-F leads partial deglycosylation serum,...

We report a determinant quantum Monte Carlo study of two-band model, inspired by infinite-layer nickelates, focusing on the influence interlayer hybridization between $3d_{x^2-y^2}$ orbitals derived from Ni (or and O) in one layer rare-earth ($R$) 5d other layer, hereafter NI $R$ layers, respectively. For filling with electron shared two layers average, leads to "self-doped" holes absence antiferromagnetic ordering, but rather appearance spin-density charge-density stripe-like states. As...
