A catalytic alkane metathesis provides a mild and selective degradation of polyethylene wastes into valuable fuels waxes.
N-Isopropyl acrylamide (NIPAM), N,N-dimethyl (DMAA), and 2-acetamidoethyl acrylate (AcAMEA) were copolymerized with ethylene employing [(P^O)PdMe(DMSO)] (1-DMSO; P^O = κ2-P,O-Ar2PC6H4SO2O Ar 2-MeOC6H4) as a catalyst precursor. Inhibition studies nonpolymerizable polar additives show that reversible κ-O-coordination of free amide retards polymerization significantly. Retardation increases in the order ethyl acetate ≪ methyl sulfone < acetonitrile N,N-dimethylacetamide ≈ N-methylacetamide...
A series of new, highly fluorinated neutral (kappa(2)-N,O) chelated Ni(II) binuclear complexes based on salicylaldimines bridged in p-position the N-aryl group were prepared. The are single-component catalyst precursors for ethylene polymerization supercritical carbon dioxide and toluene. Solubility is effected by a large number up to 18 trifluoromethyl groups per molecule. Semicrystalline polyethylene with low degree branching formed (ca. 10 branches/1000 atoms). Polymer microstructures...
The synthesis, characterization, and ethylene polymerization behavior of novel RuIV(η3:η3-C10H16)(OPO) (OPO = bis(arenesulfonato)phosphine) complexes is reported here. Upon activation with AlMe3-depleted methylaluminoxane (dMAO), the Ru(IV) precursors were able to produce polyethylene activities up 1182 h–1 turnover frequency (TOF). polymers highly linear a low degree branching (<12 methyl branches per 1000 C) had high molecular weights (up Mp 289 kg mol–1) bimodal weight distribution....
