Abstract This paper tests how quickly firms recover from the shock caused by COVID‐19 pandemic under different sourcing strategies. Our findings indicate that with geographically concentrated suppliers experience slower recovery compared to those dispersed following outbreak of pandemic. Further analysis also reveals more rapidly if their are less affected pandemic, they maintain long‐term supplier relationships, or hold higher levels cash reserves.
