SUMMARY Numerous studies have been conducted on the cellular morphology of Cryptocaryon irritans . However, details regarding tomont stage its life cycle remain lacking. In this study, we investigated throughout encystment and cell division using light electron microscopy. Results showed that there was no secretion encystation-specific secretory vesicles or extrusomes during formation cyst wall. Instead, synthesis construction C. wall materials may involve molecular events at pellicle. The...

SUMMARY Cells of Cryptocaryon irritans at different life history stages were studied using both light and electron microscopy. The characteristics several organelles revealed for the first time ultrastructural level. It was confirmed that cytostome trophonts, protomonts theronts surrounded by cilium–palp triplets rather than ciliary triplets. nematodesmata underlying circumoral dikinetids single bundles, whereas these always paired in Prorodontids. Toxicysts present late-stage tomonts...

Marine mollusks are commonly subjected to heat stress. To evaluate the effects of stress on physiological metabolism ark shell Scapharca subcrenata, clams were exposed different high temperatures (24, 28 and 32 °C) for 72 h. The oxygen consumption ammonia excretion rates measured at 2, 12, 24, 48 results indicated that metabolic significantly increased with increasing stress, accompanied by mortalities in response prolonged exposure. A metabolomics approach based gas chromatography coupled...

SUMMARY To clarify the effects of a Cryptocaryon irritans infection on physiological functions marbled rockfish Sebastiscus marmoratus , this study utilized C. at concentrations 2500; 5000; 7500; 10 000; 20 and 30 000 theronts/fish to infect weighing 45±3 g. The survival rate, food intake, respiratory serum ion gill Na + /K -ATPase activity were determined. With increase concentration passage time, rate gradually decreased. groups infected with more than 5000 had stopped feeding within 4...

Cryptocaryon irritans, a species of obligatory ciliate ectoparasite, can infect various marine teleost fish. irritans that fall to the seabed or aquarium bottom in winter form "dormant tomonts" and wake up when temperature rises next year. Abundant studies analyses on dormant tomonts were carried out at transcriptome level, order investigate molecular mechanism C. entering state under low-temperature conditions. The paired-end sequencing strategy was used better assemble entire de novo. All...

Abstract In fish, growth and development are mainly regulated by hormone/insulin‐like factors. Common aquaculture practices subject fish to stress. To investigate the effects of acute stress on growth‐related genes in cultured expression hormone receptors ( ghr 1 2), insulin‐like factor binding proteins igfbp 1, 4, 5), preprosomatostatin I II ppss 1and somatostatin sstr 2 myostatin mstn glucocorticoid gr 2) were examined Pampus argenteus subjected handling Plasma levels increased...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects Artemia nauplii enriched with different concentrations highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFAs) on lipid metabolic response, peroxidation, and antioxidant defence status lined seahorse ( Hippocampus erectus ) juveniles. Twenty‐day‐old juveniles were fed four (0.0 µL/L [control, A], 13.5 [B], 27.0 [C], 54.0 [D]) HUFAs (two thirds DHA one third EPA) for 30 d. activities lipase lipoproteinlipase significantly increased increasing HUFA...

The Chinese pomfret Pampus chinensis is one of the most economic and ecological important marine fish species in China. In present study, population genetic structure diversity P. were evaluated from a total sample size 180 individuals representing six populations East China Sea South using mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene. A 24 variable sites (including 3 singleton 21 parsimony information sites) observed, 18 haplotypes defined. haplotype (Hd) ranged 0.559 to 0.775,...
