The influence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotypes in the natural history disease and its response to antiviral treatment have been addressed many studies. In Brazil, studies on HBV genotype circulation restricted specific population groups states. Here, we conducted a nationwide multicentre study with an unprecedented sample size representing all Brazilian regions effort better understand viral variants circulating among chronic carriers. Seven were found Brazil. Overall, HBV/A was most...

Hepatitis A virus (HAV) outbreaks among men who have sex with (MSM) been reported worldwide and associated primarily sexual transmission through oral-anal sex. Here, we provide the molecular evolutionary description of a European strain, linked to HAV MSM, detected in Brazilian homosexual couple. Bayesian analysis provided evidence that viral isolates were introduced Brazil from Spain between end 2016 beginning 2017.

This study aims to evaluate the epidemiological and molecular features associated with HAV transmission in adults Rio de Janeiro during a period of increased registered cases (2017-2018). Socio-epidemiological data serum samples from anti-HAV IgM+ individuals were obtained. RNA was RT-PCR amplified sequenced for further phylogenetic phylogeographic analyses. From fifty-two individuals, most men (78.85%; p = 0.024), aged 20-30 years old (84.61%; < 0.001), resided north zone (31/52; 59.62%;...

Pregnant women are an important group to be monitored for infection due the risk of transmitting infections their babies. Both herpes simples virus (HSV) and Zika (ZIKV) neurotropic viruses that can transmitted congenitally. In this study, prevalence factors HSV among Zika-positive -negative pregnant from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, were evaluated compared. About 167 serum samples included in our study with ZIKV symptoms, who attended different hospitals Janeiro between November 2015 February...
