This study aimed to assess the capacity of saponite modified with n-hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and/or 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTS) adsorb and remove caffeine from aqueous solutions. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) revealed increased basal spacing in saponites. Small-angle scattering (SAXS) confirmed PXRD results; it also showed how different clay layers were stacked provided information on swelling natural saponites functionalized CTAB APTS. Thermal analyses, infrared...
Brazil is experiencing a scenario of population growth and aging, driven by higher life expectancy lower fertility rates, which increases the incidence neurodegenerative diseases, such as dementia, with Alzheimer’s being most common cause. This study narrative review, an exploratory qualitative nature, based on bibliographical sought to understand social economic impact dementia Brazilian society, well critically reflect related public policies potential medical care. Data from national...
This study investigates the synthesis of chitosan and chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) microspheres incorporated with kaolinite synthetic saponite clays. The were prepared using a two-step process: (i) reticulation chitosan/PVA or to form clay-biopolymer matrix (ii) further produce double-layered microspheres. resulting materials characterized FTIR, XRD, thermal analysis SEM. Their properties evaluated for water uptake, cation exchange capacity, specific surface area, acid stability,...
Amino-functionalized titanosilicate materials were prepared as an alternative for developing efficient adsorbents of azo dyes. Functionalization the titanosilicates with ethylenediamine groups was carried out via sol−gel process, using hydrolytic route. The obtained xerogels characterized by thermal analysis, elemental chemical infrared absorption spectroscopy, textural transmission electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Adsorption dye Orange II from aqueous solutions...
We report on a novel transparent, flexible, rubbery, and insoluble tri-ureasil organic–inorganic hybrid material with multifunctional characteristics potential application in drug delivery, water purification, photochromic materials. obtained the gels by one-pot sol–gel route using 3-isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane glyceryl poly(oxypropylene)triamine of molecular weight 5000 g mol−1 (Jeffamine® T5000). This approach generated silica backbone covalently connected poly(oxyalkylene) chains...
Bentonite is a natural clay that presents characteristics such as good capacity to exchange cations, large specific surface area, porosity, and possibility undergo intercalation and/or functionalization. This work reports on bentonite functionalization with organomodified alkoxides.Functionalization afforded hybrid materials displaying desirable properties for adsorption of chromium trivalent ions.Infrared absorption spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, thermal analysis, area experiments...
This work reports on the application of a takovite−aluminosilicate nanocomposite, synthesized by coprecipitation procedure, as adsorbent for removal Cr(III) and Pb(II) from aqueous solutions. Experimental studies to determine maximum fixation capacities, adsorption isotherms, affinity order process were carried out. The sorption ions is fast, equilibrium reached within 20 min, while 180 min necessary be in case ions. kinetics cations has been studied terms pseudofirst-order...
The catalytic efficiency of takovite-aluminosilicate-chromium catalysts obtained by adsorption Cr(3+) ions from aqueous solutions a takovite-aluminosilicate nanocomposite adsorbent is reported. was synthesized the coprecipitation method. activity final Cr-catalysts depended on amount adsorbed chromium. (Z)-cyclooctene conversion up to 90% with total selectivity for epoxide achieved when oxidation carried out hydrogen peroxide, at room temperature. After five consecutive runs, maintained high...
The thermal stability of vegetable oils is an important factor that affects their quality. In this study, we investigated the oil and lecithin extracted from soybeans by two distinct processes: mechanical extraction (pressing) physical (solvent). Thermal analysis was used to obtain information about different methodologies extraction. physically products proved more stable than those mechanically. Raman UV-Vis techniques were applied underpin discussion process differences.
The use of Diatomaceous Earth (DE) as a promising support synthetic metalloporphyrin is reported, trying to heterogenize catalysts mimicking enzyme site isolation and improving reaction selectivity. New multifunctional hybrid materials consisting DE amino–functionalized with aminopropyltriethoxysilane (DE–APTES), followed by grafting [meso–tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphinato]iron(III) (DE–APTES–FeTFPP), were prepared fully characterized. FeTFPP was grafted into DE–APTES via the amine...
(-)-6,6'-Dinitrohinokinin (DNHK) display remarkable antiparasitic activity and was, therefore, incorporated into a nanoparticle formulation.
Abstract This work reports the application of a natural clay and an alumina-pillared as adsorbents for removal basic dye, Methylene Blue, from aqueous solutions. The intercalation pillaring processes improve adsorption capacity montmorillonite. kinetics dye has been studied in terms pseudo-first-order pseudo-second-order models. equilibrium data are mathematically modelled using Freundlich, Langmuir Sips isotherm
In recent decades, the increasing use of pesticides to improve food productivity has led release effluents that contaminate environment. To prepare a material may help treat generated during agricultural practice, we used new method based on non-hydrolytic sol-gel route obtain zinc photocatalysts in aluminophosphate matrixes. IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, differential scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersion and specific surface area pore volume determined from...
