Sebaceous carcinoma of the eyelid is commonly misdiagnosed because it simulates other entities both clinically and pathologically. In a review all pathologic material removed from eyelids patients at Mayo Clinic between 1905 1981, 43 sebaceous carcinomas were discovered. The tumors manifested most frequently on upper eyelid; onset symptoms occurred in 31 women 12 men mean age 61.5 years (range, 28-82 years). Of patients, 11 had an associated second malignant tumor or exposure to irradiation....
We identified 11 common recommendations to deliver best care for musculoskeletal (MSK) pain.1 Recommendation 1, that MSK pain is patient centred, the cornerstone care. Yet patient-centred often undervalued, under-recognised, undertrained and considered less important than technical skills/knowledge. Greater attention patient-centredness improves practitioner outcomes reduces costs.2 3 A paradigm shift needed in which skills are learnt with same rigour as (eg, physical examination...
Patients with musculoskeletal conditions (MSKCs) are highly prevalent in ED. This project explores the impact of pilot phase a 'diversion pathway', which directed patients MSKCs from ED waiting room to an outpatient clinic led by advanced-scope physiotherapists.
We studied the effects of home interferential current therapy (IFC) on postoperative pain, range motion, and edema in subjects undergoing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, menisectomy, or knee chondroplasty.Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled prospective study.A tertiary care outpatient orthopaedic clinic/ambulatory surgery center.Eighty-seven were separated into three groups based their type within each group randomized a treatment placebo group. All received IFC...
Computed tomography (CT) of more than 90 orbital tumors revealed both benign and malignant neoplasms, including hemangiomas, lacrimal gland tumors, lymphomas, carcinomas, metastases, pseudotumors, optic nerve tumors. Detection was better the information gained complete with CT any other modality.
Correlations between clinical and quantitative measures of pain sensitivity are poor, making it difficult for clinicians to detect people with sensitivity. Clinical detection is important because these have a different prognosis may require treatment. The purpose this study was investigate the relationship across individuals without neck pain. This cross-sectional included 40 participants chronic age- sex-matched controls. Participants underwent sensory testing cold thresholds (CPTs) pressure...
The role of computed tomography (CT) in the detection and diagnosis orbital tumors at Mayo Clinic is reviewed. Special techniques late-generation scanners, including multiplane reformatted imaging, off-axis projections, high-resolution retrospective analysis, thin-section scanning, have been evaluated various ways for their clinical application 42 recent cases. overall series involved 133 proved tumors. rate information obtained established CT as method choice orbit.
Cross-sectional study. To examine extension mobility of the thoracic spine in young, asymptomatic adults, with particular reference to influence subject position and magnitude kyphosis.Impairment motion is commonly associated mechanical pain disorders this region spine. Knowledge normal factors that may important evaluation management disorders. In 40 total regional range was measured using 2-dimensional photographic image analysis. Extension standing, sitting, prone, 4-point kneeling. The...
Abstract Using the Australiasian electronic Persistent Pain Outcomes Collaboration, a binational pain registry collecting standardized clinical data from paediatric ePPOC (PaedsePPOC) and adult services (AdultePPOC), we explored characterized nationally representative chronic phenotypes associations with sociodemographic factors, health care utilization, medicine use of young people. Young people ≥15.0 <25.0 years captured in PaedePPOC AdultePPOC Australian were included. Data 68 12 for...
To determine the efficacy of eyelid protractor myectomy (subtotal excision orbicularis oculi, corrugator supercilii, and procerus muscles) for treatment essential blepharospasm, to evaluate need effectiveness botulinum toxin (BT) injections in these patients. The medical records all patients who underwent at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) from 1980 through 1995 were reviewed. The Health Status Questionnaire was used assess overall mental health, a questionnaire specific spasms...
