Abstract The chemical modification of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with a long chain mercapto acid is reported as way to improve sensitivity and response time gas sensors for detecting alcohols, acetone toxic gases such DMMP. We have developed employing MWCNTs decorated gold nanoparticles modified 16-mercaptohexadecanoic (MHDA) monolayer. Morphological compositional analysis by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Fourier Transform Infra-red Spectroscopy (FTIR) X-ray...
Here we report on the gas sensing properties of multiwalled carbon nanotubes decorated with sputtered Pt or Pd nanoparticles. Sputtering allows for an oxygen plasma treatment that removes amorphous from surface and creates oxygenated defects in which metal nanoparticles nucleate within a few minutes. The decoration 2 nm 3 is very homogeneous. This procedure performed at device level (i.e., deposited onto sensor substrates) many devices one batch, illustrates scalability mass production...
Iron oxide (Fe2O3) thin films were deposited on glass substrate by varying temperature (Ts) from 300 to 450°C using spray pyrolysis technique. The effect of Ts the physical properties Fe2O3 layers was studied. XRD spectra reveal formation α-Fe2O3. best crystallinity is obtained at = 400°C. Optical analysis allows us know that α–Fe2O3 displayed a band gap 2.07 2.16 eV for direct transition and 1.67 2 indirect transition. maximum value Hall mobility (µ 62cm2.V−1. s−1) Hence, result gas sensing...
We report on the aerosol assisted chemical vapor deposition growth of either pure or gold-nanoparticle decorated tungsten oxide nanoneedles, directly integrated onto alumina transducers for achieving resistive gas sensors. The morphology different samples grown is studied by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The performance these nanomaterials detection methanol, ethanol acetone vapors at ppm levels studied. It found that species possible even in a background nitrogen...
In this paper, we describe a new approach for the development of vapour sensor based on carbon nanotubes decorated with rhodium nanoparticles detecting organic compounds. The morphology treated multiwall was studied by means high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and composition X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Various aromatic non-aromatic vapours were tested. For vapours, response kinetics shows that these species are chemisorbed at surface nanotubes. On other hand,...
Thousands of gas molecules are expelled in exhaled breath, and some them can reveal diseases metabolomic disorders. For that reason, the development fast, inexpensive, reliable sensing devices has been attracting growing interest. Here, we present different chemoresistors based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) decorated with platinum (MWCNT/Pt) palladium nanoparticles also functionalized a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) 11-amino-1-undecanethiol (Thiol-amine). The nanocomposites...
