A survival paradox between Stage IIB/C and IIIA colon cancers exists. It is unclear how adequate lymph nodes dissection (LN) post-surgery chemotherapy contribute to the paradox. We intended assess impact of these two factors on evaluated 34,999 patients diagnosed with stage or cancer in 2003–2012 from National Cancer Data Base. The 5-year overall (OS) was 73.5 % for 51.1 (P < 0.0001). OS 84.1 chemotherapy, 70.8 ≥ 12 LNs retrieved 53.9 49.5 without 43.7 27.7 chemotherapy. Even among who had...

An incidental finding of focal thyroid uptake (thyroid incidentaloma) from an 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (PET) presents a diagnostic challenge. We evaluated the incidence incidentaloma identified by PET scans and likelihood malignancy associated with this finding. Records all patients January 1, 2000 to November 30, 2003 who had without any history disease were culled. Of 6241 performed, was observed in 76 (1.2%). Only 14 (18%) underwent biopsy. Four (28.6%)...

In a prospective trial, to determine if eIF4E overexpression in breast cancer specimens is correlated with VEGF elevation, increased tumor microvessel density (MVD) counts, and worse clinical outcome irrespective of nodal status. In vitro, the eukaryotic initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) up-regulates translation mRNAs long 5'-untranslated regions (5'-UTRs). One such gene product vascular endothelial growth (VEGF).A total 114 stage I III patients were prospectively accrued followed standardized...

Medicaid expansion (ME) has positively impacted colon cancer screening. ME's effect on treatment is less clear. This study analyses the of ME patterns treatment. Patients with primary invasive were identified using Louisiana Tumor Registry. diagnosed prior to (2014-2015) compared those after (2017-2018). Coordinate variables analyzed Fisher's exact test. Treatment status was modeled multivariable logistic regression and results are reported as adjusted odds ratios. The proportion uninsured...
