Reconstructing Holocene relative sea-level change from salt-marsh sediment requires a modern training set that captures the observable relationship between proxies and local tidal elevation. We collected 143 surface samples four salt marshes in Prince Edward Island (PEI, Canada) to develop of foraminifera bulk-sediment δ 13 C 15 N values. Two sites have semi-diurnal regimes, one has mixed regime, diurnal regime. Combining standardizing datasets different regimes fails adequately characterize...
ABSTRACT In this paper we evaluate new data and those from previous studies in northwest Scotland perform a modelling study to test the hypothesis that Storegga tsunami (submarine slope failure off continental shelf of Central Norway dated 8120–8175 bp ) impacted region. The model used is 2D non‐linear, non‐conservative, Shallow Water Equation solver incorporating inundation realistic glacial isostatic adjustment‐corrected palaeobathymetry, with horizontal resolution down 30 m at sites...
The record of ice-sheet demise since the last glacial maximum (LGM) provides an opportunity to test relative importance instability mechanisms, including sea-level (RSL) change, controlling retreat. Here we examine RSL changes accompanying retreat Minch Ice Stream (MnIS) northwest Scotland during deglaciation following LGM as well use provide additional age constraints on a local late-glacial readvance known Wester Ross Readvance. We new and existing records change obtained from isolation...
