Recent studies have shown centralization in the Domain Name System (DNS) around public DNS services, which are hosted on centrally managed infrastructure and advertise higher reliability, improved security, faster response times for name resolutions. However, many of recently emerged services not yet been extensively studied regarding popularity performance. In light this, we use 10.6k RIPE Atlas probes find that 28.3% (and their host network by extension) at least one service, with Google...
Every Web session involves a DNS resolution. While, in the last decade, we witnessed promising trend towards an encrypted general, encryption has only recently gained traction with standardisation of over TLS (DoT) and HTTPS (DoH). Meanwhile, rapid rise QUIC deployment now opened up exciting opportunity to utilise same protocol not encrypt communications, but also DNS. In this paper, evaluate benefit using coalesce name resolution via (DoQ), content delivery HTTP/3 (H3) 0-RTT. We compare...
How axisymmetric spheroidal particles rotate in a viscous shear flow is already known. A new study shows that with discrete rotational symmetry tumble and spin like spheroids when the axis contained plane of reflection symmetry, but they may differently if it not.
We present WoT2Pod, an architecture that provides a uniform API for data access and control of IoT devices at the edge in cloud, creating seamless continuum between these environments. The is based on Resource Description Framework (RDF) graphs, Linked Data Platform (LDP) containers, HTTP. created by middleware uses Web Things to interact with devices, maps collected RDF, most recent edge, stores long-term storage sharing third parties Solid Pod cloud layer. establish formalism derive...
The distribution of liquid water in ice-free clouds determines their radiative properties, a significant source uncertainty weather and climate models. Evaporation turbulent mixing cause cloud to display large variations droplet-number density, but quite small droplet size [Beals et al. (2015)]. Yet direct numerical simulations the joint effect evaporation near edge predict different behaviors, it remains an open question how reconcile these results with experimental findings. To infer...
The broadband market in the US consists of a variety access technologies and Internet Service Providers. However, lack remote regions ISP choice at high-speed tiers (above 100 Mbps) result digital divide that Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has been aiming to close. To this end, we analyze dataset collected by Measuring Broadband America (MBA) program provide comprehensive view performance (reliability, throughput, latency) across from 2012–2019. We also build coverage maps on...

Evaporation of cloud droplets accelerates when turbulence mixes dry air into the cloud, affecting droplet-size distributions in atmospheric clouds, combustion sprays, and jets exhaled droplets. The challenge is to model local correlations between droplet numbers, sizes, supersaturation, which determine supersaturation fluctuations along paths (Lagrangian fluctuations). We derived a statistical that accounts for these correlations. Its predictions are quantitative agreement with results...
We report on measurements of the angular dynamics micron-sized equilaterally triangular platelets suspended in a micro-channel shear flow. Our confirm that such particles spin and tumble like spheroid simple shear. Since triangle has corners we can observe spinning directly. In general frequency is different from tumbling frequency, affected by tumbling. This gives rise to doubly-periodic dynamics.
Abstract Raman scattering experiments on single crystalline quartz in the high temperature phase (β‐quartz) have been carried out. In order to obtain a complete assignment of all polar active modes different geometries with phonon wave vectors parallel and perpendicular optic axis used. These allowed identification hitherto missing longitudinal E 1 ‐modes. Finally near forward made observation ordinary polaritons associated transverse phonons symmetry possible. The experimental data are...
