A number of studies require the determination genetic sex mouse embryos before sexual differentiation and/or mutant mice that display partial or complete reversal. The majority current methods for sexing by PCR involve multiplexing 2 primer pairs. We have developed a novel using single pair amplifies fragments from X and Y chromosome with clear size difference between respective amplicons. This assay provides rapid reliable method to identify across different strains.

Ophiopogon heterotepalus, a new species from Lai Chau Province in NW Vietnam, is described and illustrated. It most similar to O. peliosanthoides, but differs mainly its significantly smaller, less widely open, urceolate-campanulate flowers, shorter heteromorphic (or dimorphic) perianth lobes differing shape size between the inner outer whorls, triangular anthers, styles. Nine new Zingiber species from Vietnam are reported here. Of these, Z. lecongkietii belongs to the sect.
